Changing my answer from RDR2. Still my GOAT and on my Rushmore but may not be best for this group. You won’t get the experience if you rush it. Switching to Uncharted Drakes Fortune. I own it on PlayStation 4 and it’s an awesome game. Been a while since I played it so it would be a good game to play along since I have forgotten a lot.

I will say RDR2 but the side quest are a must also. I looked up how long to beat the main story and it’s 60ish hours. To be honest it didn’t feel that long but you can definitely rush through Chapter 1 and 2. Chapter 1 is linear and no free roam. Chapter 2 just takes forever because you start exploring. The story is top notch though and if a lot of us play at the same time it will be more fun.

Close second is probably God of War Ragnarok. I’m getting a PS5 and I want to play the game that almost stole GOTY from Elden Ring.

So for a book club 60 hours is definitely a haul. In a game like this you're right in side missions are amazing.

Yeah that’s my thing is I know it would be a time crunch and hard for everyone to keep together because side missions still have a lot to do with the story and experience. I feel like linear games may be better. Am I talking myself out of my choice? @laughatbrian choice of Uncharted would be a good one. Plus I can just pull out my PS4 and play along. I really think a PS5 is needed to be in this group. PS5 is on top when it comes to single player games.

Yeah 60 hour open world game is pushing it. That's why Uncharted works. Isn't that long, linear, you know where you're going next, etc...

I wish more of these games were made. Nothing wrong with a game that takes less than 20 hours to beat and has levels instead of open world. I mean I like the grind and being able to play a game for hundreds of hours after I beat it but sometimes I just want a good story and move on.

You will enjoy your PS5 then 😉
