I love NHL 94 and the EA hockey series. Being a Minnesotan, hockey is in my blood, and this game allows me to scratch the hockey itch (especially since a am not a good skater).

Hockey 94 was one of the greatest games in the series, EXCEPT they removed fighting and blood! The worst part was, they tried to sell it as an added feature!!! I found a PDF of the instruction book online, check this out. My friends and I still joke about the concept of added features being something removed from a product. It started here. Total shark jump.

Hockey without fighting and blood?!

It's probably more because it was 30+ years ago but I don't remember blood in hockey games prior. Fighting, yes.

Here is a pretty good article about fighting in EA sports games.

We played the original game and NHL 93. To be honest, I was skeptical about the game when it came out but one of my friends insisted we give it a chance, and he was right.

Glad I wasn't playing games during the first person fighting.

A lot of the early first person modes remind me: just because you CAN doesn’t mean you SHOULD

Oh, and the blood was from injuries. They had it in the movie swingers. NHL 93

Man it was a simple joy to fight someone in NHLPA 93, knock their ass down and see that pool of blood come out. Still can't argue that 94 and 95 were some of the better games control wise
