I honestly am not sure if I’m quite old enough to really consider most changes “memorable” since a lot of the things people already mentioned were the norm once I seriously started to play video games.

But if I had to pick one “game changer” for me growing up as a kid would have to be the Wii/motion controls. The Wii’s success really cemented Nintendo as a competitor in the console-space (even if they were already), AND motion controls have been part of basically every Nintendo controller since then. The impact this console has on my generation in particular is so strong that I hear a lot of college kids who aren’t super up-to-date with Nintendo still call Mario Kart Wii, “the original.” It might’ve had a quirky controller, but you can’t deny that the Wii was a huge success

Yeah that’s fair, guess I just bundle everyone in as a “dad group” as around the same age as my parents. I bet my post would make them feel the same way 😂

I immediately thought of where I was in life when the Wii came out. Then thought of where you were. That's where I felt ancient. Very very different points in life.

I was already married and in my first house when we bought a Wii. So that would have been...19ish years ago? So I was 23 or 24.

I was 23 and on the tail end of my first marriage.
