I understand the idea of wanting to stay with physical, and I'll occasionally still pick up a physical copy of a Switch game here and there, but 99.999% of the time, I'm getting a digital download, whether it's through Steam, the Nintendo online store, or whatever digital store it's on.
I'm still old school enough to want to answer this way, but the only thing holding me back is Nintendo's user-unfriendly setup for families with multiple Switches. Until there is some fix or compromise to that system, physical wins for me.
First reason is I guess I am old school and prefer to have physical copies of games. The collector side of me loves to see and display them.
Second reason would be resell value. My side hustle/second job is reselling items, and video games are my number one thing. Crazy value for some stuff.
With my 1gb unlimited internet, there’s no issue installing/uninstalling and keeping everything organized digitally. This was a hard decision cause I do like having the discs and being able to resell when I’m done, especially for a cool dollar at GameStop!
I’m old school - I like having the physical copies.
1) Resale value (an ironic argument as I’d never sell most of them).
2) Wait long enough and you can get great deals on used games.
3) Nothing beats having a tangible collection to look at and show off to friends.
I go digital now. Part of the reason is I have an Xbox Series S so I don't have a choice. Now with Switch I go physical but its kinda annoying. You do save space on your Switch but the cartridges are so small I have lost some before (lost Mario Golf for about 4 months). Switch Games hold value also.
I used to be big on the physical for the trade in part, however the speed of switching games while all digital is amazing now. I am also far more careful with purchases.
Physical just seems more permanent to me, and I like having a tangible collection. But for games I know I’ll come back to over and over I go digital (Mario Kart, Animal Crossing, etc)
Digital has it's issues, but then I remember blowing on those cartridges, game discs having one scratch/not being able to play, and losing my memory cards all the time.
I wish I could just say F it and only do digital but yeah...I like having the collection. If they did it right and actually made digital games cheaper thennnnnnn...
I have kids. It's easier to go digital rather than having their tiny little hands destroying physical copies. It's easier to keep up with everything too.
100% digital, less clutter and the ability to organize this in a digital setting, physically ur always gonna have limitations. But for nostalgia I will ways keep a few things physical
So I get the benefits of physically having the thing but the convenience of digital is just too much. This is especially true in the age of the Switch. Even my transfer from PS4 to PS5 was seamless.
