Outer Wilds is a 2019 action-adventure game developed by Mobius Digital and published by Annapurna Interactive. It first released for Windows, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4 before releasing for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S in 2022. A Nintendo Switch version is also under development. The game features the player character exploring a solar system stuck in a 22-minute time loop that ends with the star going supernova. The player progresses through Outer Wilds by exploring the solar system and learning clues to the cause of the time loop.

This is an adventure game in which players assume the role of an astronaut searching for answers while exploring a doomed alien galaxy. From a first-person perspective, players pilot their spaceship, interact with aliens, and solve puzzles while traversing planet surfaces. Though infrequent, players' death can occur somewhat dramatically: getting swallowed by a giant monster; suffocation in space; getting crushed by falling sand. One line of dialogue briefly mentions wine (e.g., "...their stomachs are strong enough to drink sap wine.”).
