PlayStation 4
2013-11-15
The PlayStation 4 (PS4) is a home video game console developed by Sony Computer Entertainment. Announced as the successor to the PlayStation 3 in February 2013, it was launched on November 15, 2013, in North America, November 29, 2013 in Europe, South America and Australia, and on February 22, 2014 in Japan. A console of the eighth generation, it competes with Microsoft's Xbox One and Nintendo's Wii U and Switch.
Spider-Man. Horizon Zero Dawn. Ghost of Tsushima. God of War. And those were just at the tail end. This really pushed gaming completely forward. This was my Last of Us machine. The exclusives, the quality, the multi-media use. What a system.
My bb. The star of the show. The PS4 is like an old friend who's been with you through countless gaming adventures. It might not have the shiny new graphics of the PS5, but it's got a massive library of classics that can keep you entertained for years. Just be prepared for the occasional jet-engine-level fan noise during those intense gaming sessions and a little troubleshooting. It's a workhorse that's earned its place in gaming history.
Have only played a handful of times. I am an XBox and Nintendo guy. Really slick and fun gaming experience with a catalogue that seems more tailored for story mode games.
The one Sony Playstion I rocked the most. I normally am bad about holding onto game systems when I have upgraded but I haven’t got rid of this yet. I think this will go down as the best Sony system. Graphically it’s there with next gen consoles in my opinion.
Apart from platformers (Nintendo still makes the best there), IMO, PlayStation is the home to the best single-player games on the market!
I have absolutely loved getting Platinum on all 5 Uncharted games on PS4. Plus I have a huge backlog of games on here like God of War, Horizon Zero Dawn, Tomb Raider, Kingdom Hearts, and SpiderMan!
I can’t wait to eventually get a PS5!
I bought this console for my girlfriend because of her love for JRPGs. I've had the opportunity to play a few games on it and have to say PS4 has some wonderful console exclusives that make the console worthwhile. They've also drastically improved their controller design (still not my favorite) to make games much more playable. I'll always prefer PS4 for my racing sim games.
Was the best system until PS5 upped it in every category (in a good way). Unmatched exclusives, marketed correctly, and tons of great games from indies to blockbusters. I have 2 (regular and a Pro). All my Netflix, etc is done thru either my PS4 or PS5 too
PS4 was a huge hit for story driven games and the reason it outperformed the xb1. It was a great upgrade to the ps3 and the ps4 pro is still a great system if you can’t get a hold of a ps5.
This is hands down the second best purchase in an actual gaming system I have made. Again, not as cool as the Super Nintendo, but right up there with the Wii. Amazing games and so many of them. This system really takes the cake.
Its a good system. I bought one for a brief period of time so I could play MLB The Show, but most of my friends played XBOX so I did not have this system long. Also, I never bought MLB The Show...
Sony comes back swing after a disappointing PS3. The PS4 was/is a solid console. The evolution of the controller to add ports (yes I know xbox blah blah blah) for your mic was much needed. The UI took a huge leap forward on the PS4 and it flowed so well. Simple to use with plenty of ways to customize.
