First off, we want to send a big thank you for your patience and feedback as we worked through the transition from TDG to Mushroom Kingdom Racing. Much time and effort was spent by all 3 of us in deciding how to toe the line between giving the group a nice refresh while also maintaining a nod to the past with the formats you’ve all grown so accustomed to. So here we are excited to share our plans for kicking off Season 1 on July 29.
The first big change you’ll see is Kart Gangs is now on MONDAYS at 9:00 (event is open now!) The main reason for this is it will be over with plenty of time to spare before the Cups crew kick off their night. If you are still waiting for a racer, you will have to begin at 9:10 and the other team will simply drop their lowest score, whether it’s for the entire night or until the player joins part way through. 9:10 will be the hard cut-off time. Each week, the winning team will receive 2 points in the season standings and losing teams will receive 1 point. The winning team at the end of the season will receive stackable taglines (no more “Season X Kart Gang Winner”).
Moving on to our weekly races, this will likely be the biggest change to adjust to. Instead of an always open tournament room and Wolves Den / Gang Gang type of nights where attendance is spotty, we will have a MKR Party Night every Thursday. This will consist of 12 races with rotating lobbies open from 9pm-10pm EST. You will have 1 hour to hang out on Discord and get your 12 races in. At 10:00, the lobby will close and the top 12 racers will open a private lobby and run 4 races to determine that week’s Party Night champ and stackable tagline. Everyone in the top 20 will receive 2 points in the standings. If you participated and did not make the top 20, you will receive 1 point as long as you submit a score. We can only see the top 20 scores so it is essential you submit your score in the quest to guarantee some XP and a participation point. The final 12 will receive additional points based on their finish in the final. 12 for 1st, 11 for 2nd, and so on.
While it wasn’t the most popular event, Fight Me Bro is back as Battles After Dark with a tournament room that will remain open from Monday to Sunday. Like before, you can get your battles in at any time; however, the idea is that racers will hop into battles after they complete their Party Night races. Points will NOT count toward the season standings, but will have their own standings. 1st will get 20, 2nd will get 19, and so on. At the end of the season, the top 12 will be invited to a Battle Night Championship for XP and a tagline.
Finally, Time Trials will live on as a weekly quest with unique rules as part of the fun. Everyone who submits a time will receive a point. The top 5 times will receive extra points in the season standings.
There are still a few loose ends we’re tying up, but nothing that prevents us from starting next week. And if we make any changes, we’ll be sure to let you know right away. Since we don’t have an intern to pile all the work on and then blame, questions can be directed to Bayesic, Mamba, or myself.
