Disney Epic Mickey: Power of Illusion
Disney Epic Mickey: Power Of Illusion' is a 2D action platformer and is a spin-off of the Epic Mickey series. It is a tribute to the Illusion series of Mickey Mouse games by Sega, and this game is mainly a tribute to 'Castle Of Illusion starring Mickey Mouse' for the Sega Mega Drive/Genesis. The gameplay consists of controlling Mickey Mouse (with either the Control Pad or the Circle Pad) in a 2D side-scrolling environment akin to the Illusion series, while mixing the paint and thinner mechanics from Epic Mickey for the Nintendo Wii. Using the 3DS touch screen, players can paint objects to bring them to life (useful to get around, or reach heights) or use the thinner to erase them (particularly removing obstacles to help Mickey advance forward). Each stage is based on films from the 'Walt Disney Animated Classics' canon and involves the player rescuing certain characters (toons) from each stage relating to the film. Every time these characters are found, they are then kept safely in a fortress including a large number of rooms. Throughout the game, these characters may ask Mickey to carry out several missions (in which he'll get rewards in return). The game's graphics include hand-drawn sprites along with scrolling parallax backgrounds (which is a nod to the technique used in the 16 bit gaming industry).
Cartoon Violence
This is an action platformer in which players control Mickey Mouse on an adventure to rescue Minnie Mouse from an evil witch. As players run and jump through side-scrolling levels, they can use a magical paintbrush to defeat “cartoony” enemies (e.g., bats, sharks, turtles) that tumble off screen. In some sequences, players must defeat larger bosses (e.g., a giant snake and dragon); in a pirate-themed level, Peter Pan assists Mickey by throwing small daggers at enemies.
