Atari Jaguar
1993-11-23
The Atari Jaguar is a home video game console developed by Atari Corporation and released in North America in November 1993. Part of the fifth generation of video game consoles, it competed with the 16-bit Sega Genesis and Super NES and the 32-bit 3DO Interactive Multiplayer that launched the same year. Despite its two custom 32-bit processors — Tom and Jerry — in addition to a Motorola 68000, Atari marketed it as the world's first 64-bit game system, emphasizing its 64-bit bus used by the blitter. The Jaguar launched with Cybermorph as the pack-in game, which received divisive reviews. The system's library ultimately comprised only 50 licensed games.

Atari Jaguar
The controller, with its numeric keypad, felt like you were punching in secret codes just to play. Had some absolutely wackadoodle titles. It had potential, but it became more of a collector's item than a gaming legend.

I knew one kid that had this and we never played it because we had SNES

What could have been a great console, turned out to be a great let down. The controller was big and awkward, and the game selection wasn't there. Slow sales due to no great launch games, caused this to be a big flop.

So much anticipation for this console only to be let down, from the opening Jaguar growl. The absolute worst controller in the history of gaming. The poor choices of games and just overall bad execution, I think makes this one of the worst but unique systems to be made. There were a couple fun games like Brutal Sports Football or The Dragon, but the majority were trash.
