Trine is a side-scrolling, action platform-puzzle video game developed by Frozenbyte and published by Nobilis. The game was originally released for Microsoft Windows in 2009, and has since been ported to Linux, OS X, and game consoles. The game takes place in a medieval fantasy setting and allows players to take control of three separate characters who can battle enemies and solve environmental puzzles.

This is a side-scrolling adventure game in which players guide a thief, a wizard, and a knight on a quest to vanquish an evil sorcerer. Players use each character's skills to navigate across platforms, solve puzzles, and attack enemy creatures. Players slash with swords, shoot arrows, bash with a hammer, and cast magic spells to kill an assortment of fantastical enemies (e.g., bats, spiders, and skeletons). Skeletons crumble into piles of bones when defeated, and one still image depicts undead soldiers crawling out of graves. In another still image, a character is seen gulping down ale from a large barrel while voice-over narration describes him as the "royal ale provider."
