This was my Legend of Zelda machine. I played that game so many times as a kid. Beat it, restart, and see how fast I can beat it the next time. Mario 64, Star Fox, and Mario Kart all hold a special place in my heart.
The second most played console in my childhood. Getting Tony Hawk 4 and this at Christmas one year was amazing. Played so many classics on this bad ass cube. To this day I am a die hard smash fan from all the sessions I would play with my brothers and cousins.
I remember saving for this system as a kid. I was so pumped to get it and Dynasty Warriors. Sadly this console never really took off like I expected it to do.
I remember getting my GBA with a copy of Pokemon Silver. I played the crap out of my console until it got a screen bleed. Some of my favorite games on this from Megaman Battle Network to Fire Emblem. There was a lot of experimenting that went on with this console.
Ps5 is a nice console. However, there are currently only a hand few of exclusive games on this console. If you were to get a next gen console, I would highly recommend going team Xbox. This last E3 presentation did not hold too much hope for exclusives coming out soon, but with the recently re-vamped Playstation Now this console will be fighting side by side with Xbox this generation.
The first console I ever owned. I played so much Zelda and Star Fox on this thing that to this day I have those games memorized. The 8-bit and 16-bit era games really hold up today and I am excited to show my kid these SNES games as he gets older.
I literally bought this console just for Smash Bros. Nintendo marketed this console poorly as it sounds like a expansion to the Wii. Almost every Wii U game is now on the Switch, which makes this console obsolete.
I got this console as a wedding gift and literally didn't play it for an entire year. Smash Bros came out and now it's easily my most played console. Nintendo certainly redeemed themselves after the disaster that is the Wii U. Excited for more Nintendo exclusives to get release this year!
If building a PC is too much strain on the budget, then the Xbox X/S would be the way to go for all next gen gaming. Bundled with the Gamepass this console is a beast. Lots of games, 120 fps, what more do you need?
I was a Xbox kid for years, but as I have started losing interest in FPS games I slowly drifted to PC. With all modern games being available on PC (besides Nintendo), through gaming service like Xbox Gamepass and Playstation games coming a year later after release, the necessity to own certain consoles has begun to dwindle.
I currently have a nice gaming PC with a 3080 + Ryzen 7 5800x combo.
