Dad, Therapist, and Gamer. Co-caster for @haloinfinite and @fortnite with @TheDadGaming . Gong Show: Event that proves to be a disaster, often in a fun or memorable way
I loved this thing. Sonic adventures 1/2 are still the best sonic games to ever come out. Power stone was arguably the best fighting game ever. Phantasy star online introduced consoles to online co-op. It wasn’t flashy, but they gave us some good titles. Unfortunately I feel the Dreamcast started strong and failed to keep it going
Just absolutely phenomenal and I played some of the best RPG games ever on it. Kingdom hearts, FF10. Also played my first ever online game for console with the network adapter. Just a great console that paved way to what we have today
Motion controls for the most part we’re a blast. It was so fun playing games like wii sports with friends and family. Definitely a huge step forward for Nintendo. However, a lot of the games died with the motion controls.
PS3 and Xbox 360 introduced us to main stream online gaming for consoles. PS3 gave us solid games but I feel this generation of consoles wasn’t necessarily revolutionary like the generation before it
PS4 was a huge hit for story driven games and the reason it outperformed the xb1. It was a great upgrade to the ps3 and the ps4 pro is still a great system if you can’t get a hold of a ps5.
Hardware wise it was a big improvement over the 360, but Microsoft dropped the ball on some games. They did a great job of making this your all around media box, and the Xbox One X saved the Xbox one generation.
I do still have my original day one Xbox one that is still going strong and used by my kids almost daily
The best portable system ever made. They also did a phenomenal job with the different versions. OLED is gorgeous and the switch lite is ideal for younger kids or families that may have multiple switches.
Games appeal to the nostalgia of adults and the youngest of kids. I’ve had some great memories so far gaming with the kids on the switch. An absolute great system for the family and the kids
An A+ idea that was executed very poorly. Had loads of potential but looks like the support was just never there. Money is better spent with gamepass or the new PS subscription
Changes mine to a 4 star. Reason because there are more and more mobile controllers being developed and more and more ways to play AAA games on your phone. Gamepass, PS remote, and other 3rd party apps like moonlight. Mobile/cloud gaming is just getting started
My first true gaming system. Mario 64 was an experience like no other. My dad and I would play Mario kart all the time together. It introduced us to Zelda OoT, which is arguably the best game of all time. Goldeneye, which was our first true test of friendships. This may go down as my favorite console of all time
2nd system I ever really owned, but introduced me to such a wide variety of games. First time I’ve played games like Final Fantasy and other great RPGs. I remember being scared out of my mind playing resident evil 2. So many times I’d fake being sick to sit at home and finish a game.
Also, who doesn’t remember having to leave on their PS for 16 hours because they couldn’t find a save point
This thing is super fun. Actually playing the game is completely different than watching someone’s gameplay. It seems everyone has the initial “thrill” and will play it constantly, then it kind of sits until you get the urge to play. Not quite “The Oasis” but we are getting there
I like it. I understand it has some great story driven games. As a father of 4, I just can’t sink 50+ hours into these games anymore. I’m always playing multiplayer games with friends it seems. It Essentially the same specs as the Xbox X, so it’s literally just your personal preference between consoles. I go with Xbox for my reasons, but I know why others prefer PS.
They REALLY dropped the ball with not being able to support 1440p. You’re stuck with 1080 or 4K. For casual gaming this is ok, but if you’re one of those people who likes to sweat in PvP games, it’s not the best choice
I mean, it’s a PC. The amount of customization is unparalleled to anything else. Yes it’s gotten expensive, but it has the capability to play games how some deserve to be played. Don’t forget the ability to enhance your gameplay like creating fun mods for some games or streaming
I’m on team Xbox. I play it much more than my ps5, but that’s because I’ve had an Xbox since 2007. Gamepass alone is just absolutely phenomenal. But the console itself is amazing. For $500 the gaming specs blow any cheap PC out of the water. Playing AAA games at 120fps on a console is amazing. There will always be something about the ease of playing games on a console rather than playing on a PC. The new Xbox is a budget PC. If you can’t afford a $1500+ pc setup right now then just get the new generation of consoles
Would had been 5 stars if it wasn’t for the dreaded red ring of death, which happened to 3 of mine.
But it came out in the heyday of my gaming. The long nights of trash talking in halo 3 and COD. Being mesmerized by Gears of War. This was also when online gaming became streamlined and it just made gaming with friends that much easier.
