Excellent sequel and continuation of the story line from God of War. The additional abilities for Atreus make it so much more fun. The story and humor are great. Definitely a must play!
Possibly the best in the series. A lot of fun to play co-op with friends. Different for me as it is a shooter rpg, and I prefer more traditional fantasy rpgs more.
I did not own this, but a buddy did. Raced the oval track so many times in a Camaro to make money to get new cars. Drove me away from the game series until GT6
I used to bug my older brother to use his Apple IIc so I could play this. I was in awe of the game. I think this is what started my love for both RPGs and survival games. I ended up with that Apple IIc, but sadly it took water damage and was not repairable. I may but another one some day.
I know people who play, and have seen it played. It always looked fun. I thought with all the great reviews it was a 4/5 game easily. Installed it off gamepass on my PC, logged in. Played for 5 minutes. Logged out. Uninstalled. I love survival and building games. I loathe the mechanics and damn near everything about it. Not sure how it got as popular with other better games out there.
I have this for the Wii, and it feels quite a bit like real bowling. Minus the heavy ball... and walkup... and technique... and bowling alley. Oh heck, its a video game that is fun and you can play with friends. And generally it is cheaper than going to the alley, depending on how much beer you drink.
Played several rounds of this with my son. It is a blast, but doesn't seem to feel as good as the older games. Maybe I am just biased towards the games from my teenage years.
X and 11 are some of the better iterations in the series. I didn’t play many of the games, due to the play style. But 11 is a good one. Not quite MK3 worthy though.
One of the best RTS games ever, maybe not C&C worthy, but still damn good. A lot of fun playing multiplayer, which gave a great challenge compared to the campaign.
I’m really torn about this game. From 2001 to 2004 I played this hours on end every day. It was an amazing game. PvE combat was fair and challenging. And you knew the threat was real with tougher enemies. And the PvP is unparalleled. Period. Others have tried to copy it, but it’s never the same.
That being said, I logged back in a few months ago, now that it is F2P and found it to be lacking. Maybe if you went P2P, or if they had the player base back. But as it stands I would change the 5 star to a 3 star. It could just be that nostalgia has worn off and it’s not the game that’s not the same…
Still a good story, just wasn’t as into this as the others. I didn’t play it near as much due to the graphic style and 2D gameplay. It didn’t fit the bill for the series. The part of the story I remember was good. And that’s why it’s a 3 star instead of 2 for me.
Quite a bit like Monster Hunter, this being free to play with a pay to look cool, it is a lot of fun. The only drawback is you have to stay on top of things or you fall behind.
This was a good hack and slash game as well. Hard to come by the computers it would work on, so mostly if you want to play it now, it’s through emulation.
The mobile version “Unchained” was addicting, more for the competition than the game. The story was good, and anyone who is a fan of the series should have a gander at the story.
Great dungeon crawler for the Genesis. At some point I had dropped my cartridge and knocked the battery loose. This meant that when you shut the system off for the day, all saves were lost. After hours of playing a fairly tough dungeon, and making to a point where you felt good, that sucked. I had to leave my Genesis on for days, if not weeks, to finish the game. If you think modern systems have issues overheating, try leaving one of those older fanless systems on for extended periods of time...
This was actually the first Phantasy Star game I played. It was quite a bit like Final Fantasy games and I love the explore until you run into a monster aspect of these games. This prompted me to get my hands on the previous games as well.
Lots of fun, with great gameplay. Like almost every other BR game, the skill gap is huge and hard to overcome. Even with that, the enjoyment factor is still there.
So, I have to give it a 4. I feel as if the graphics have gotten better, and the driving has gotten better, but the selection isn’t up to par. Just my opinion.
Unpopular opinion time... Of all the Assassin's Creed games, this one is my favorite. Not sure if it's the story or the setting, but this is one that I can keep coming back to no matter what. Maybe it's just the fact that I can go around assassinating Brits...
When someone mentions RPGs, this is the game my mind goes to. This is the granddaddy of granddaddies when it comes to RPG video games. Final Fantasy, Dragon Quest, Might and Magic, and many others took a page from this book. Even now that this game is 40 years old, it is still fun in its own right.
The first Baldur’s Gate game not made by BioWare. I wasn’t expecting it to be quite the same or even as good, but Larian Studios has blown my expectations away. Based on D&D5e, they have created an amazing game with so much potential. Great storyline and great gameplay so far. They also kept the pause if you want and select or play in real time.
Extremely addicting game, that will always make you want to do just a little better than the last time. When I was young, I didn’t have this, but the neighbor did. I constantly wanted to go there their house to see if they would give me a chance to play.
The very first game I played on a gaming system and it still holds a place in my heart. Every time I went to my sisters I begged to play this. Could spend hours just making tracks and seeing how crazy I could get! Definitely one that every kid should experience.
While fun, AC: Valhalla moved away from assassinations and more toward open world RPG. This would be good under a different franchise, but doesn’t live up to the Assassins Creed name.
Spent countless hours making this guy spin. The Genesis was the first system I actually owned, and both Sonic and the Genesis hold a special place in my heart.
Fairly innovative fighting game that took the approach of “best 2 out of 3” differently. It was only one round, but each character had double life bars. Also the first game I know of that had combo-breakers where you could stop a combo from finishing. The combo breaker was copied by almost every other fighting game franchise out there.
One of the best FF games made. Very hard to say which is my second favorite between this and VIII. I have to say that the graphics might take this to the second spot, although the whole blitzball thing was not impressive to me. Guess it was a nifty idea, just not my cup of tea.
A really good survival game. I personally didn’t make it too far before it got fairly tough for me. Partly due to playing by myself. I’m sure it would be even more enjoyable with some friends.
First Diablo I played on console, and not sure I’ll go back to PC. The gameplay was definitely improved over 2. The story wasn’t as good. But I loved how they did things. Could go back and do it over and over.
The beginning of what may be the second most influential RPG series in the video game world. Might and Magic adds brings some great features that will be copied throughout the entire genre. It is a great game, with a good story and still fun to this day, although it has lost a little luster in this current day and age.
I feel as if they took some of VII and some of VIII and added in a little new and said, this is the game. Easily on par as being top, but just fell short a little of VIII and X. If they made games more along the lines of the original PlayStation era Final Fantasies, they would all be amazing.
The first Mario game with Mario in the title. This game took levels to a different place. Being a spin off of Donkey Kong, it takes many of the ideas from that game and tweaks them in a good way. Not nearly as iconic as Donkey Kong or Super Mario Bros, still an important part of the history of this series.
Bugs aside, this game was so much fun. I spent countless hours shooting the proton pack trying to catch ghosts. I can still hear the sound of the proton pack.
More challenging than the first C&C:RA, and loads of fun. These are the RTS games I love and the newer ones don’t seem to stack up. Wish someone would bring back Command & Conquer games.
I have this for the Sega Master System and can remember countless hours of leaning to try to make those corners. No, it didn't help, but tell my younger self that. I didn't care, it was the way to play.
An extremely fun and funny fighting game that made fun of all the other fighting games of the era. Not as refined as those other games, but the fun value overrode that.
The only student in my class that got to go spend extra time in the computer lab and play Oregon Trail. You have died of dysentery. You can never forget what felt like constant dysentery. But it sure was fun.
This game is so much fun! Demolition derby with added bonuses and you don’t have to dump money into a car or risk getting injured! Please! Well, maybe pull a muscle cause you’re old now.
If you like Dungeons and Dragons, this is the game. It is based on AD&D 2nd edition rules and has a good story line. Typical help and kill quests along the way. You can get your fix all by your lonesome.
Definitely the best looking of the series, 8 finishes what 6 started and concludes the mainstream releases of one of the greatest RPG series of all time.
Felt a lot like Super Mario Bros. 3, which isn't a bad thing, as that is the greatest Mario Bros game in my opinion. It just felt a little to much like they upgraded the last game, threw in some new things and changed it from "Bros" to "World."
Despite mixed reviews, it is one of my favorite games for the N64. It did lack some storyline challenges that make a great game, but still fun nonetheless.
Being the first SUPER Mario Bros in the series, it set the stage for all the games to come. While it kept some of the basic ideas from Mario Bros, it added so much and created a gameplay system that would be copied many times over by many franchises.
Can't think of a Guitar Hero I didn't used to enjoy. Can't play them near as well after an accident in 2010, but that's only because it is harder to hit buttons with one less finger...
I prefer the original over the newer versions. I played it shortly after it came out, and occasionally still log in. It was so much fun at the time, and even has a fun value today.
One of the greatest JRPGs I have ever played. I would literally get home from work, turn this on and fall asleep playing it. Only to wake up and continue playing it. To be young with no responsibility again...
Still fun occasionally with the kiddos. Starts out great, then fades quickly as you try to get into raids and such. In the beginning it wasn’t hard to find people to play with, now it seems rare that anyone actually logs in.
This is my favorite in the Elder Scrolls series. I think they peaked here as far as story goes and the gameplay is great. Even all these years later, the game holds up.
Dragon Age is another partially turned based RPG by BioWare, but this time they step away from the Dungeons and Dragons. Yes, dragon is in the name, but this isn’t built upon the rules. A little more in the hack and slash genre than just RPG, this takes the best of the pause and select actions and mixes it was real time fights for an all around great game. Cannot forget the great dialogue options that build reputations based on your selection.
The last game with Warcraft in the title I enjoyed. One of the best strategy/base building games out there. Even 20 years later, it is a fun game to pick up and play.
As far as The Elder Scrolls series goes, it is the most popular due to the open world concept and controls. It drew a lot of people in due to its massive release/re-release on virtually every console in the past 15 years. It is a good game, but I think that earlier iterations in the series had better storylines.
One of the more fun games to just trash the computer at. Seems like once you figured out a pattern, you could just score consistently. Definitely frustrating when the computer could get by you at times though.
Can’t say it’s the greatest Mario game of all time, but definitely one of the most groundbreaking. It set the stage for 3D games everywhere. Definitely challenging and worth the play through.
Great story line that keeps bringing you back for more. Great gameplay with what seems to be endless hours of things to do. One of those games that you may never quite complete, even if you finish it.
Even after several games I cannot get my eyes to work correctly in this game. The colors all seem to blend together and I usually get taken out by someone I can't see. I'll stick with other shooters. I also am not much of a fan of most FPS shooters.
Definitely the best of the NES era Mario games. If you went the hard way and didn’t use shortcuts, you probably threw a controller or two, only to go back and try again.
Great RTS game. The later iterations of the game are definitely better, but this started a great line of games that you could lose hours of your life playing.
Building on the first game, Dragon Age II is every bit as good as Origins was. Using pause and select or real time fighting to vanquish foes while building a reputation with the land. Make decisions and have dialogue with others to see where the game goes. Every decision has a consequence in the game, be it good or bad.
Might catch some hate here, but meh... Really not impressed by this game. Too much time needs to be put into it to do much, as it is with any of these MMORPGs. And I really loathe that they went this way with the Warcraft series. I really enjoyed the earlier strategy games, and wish they still made games like them. But going this route really doesn't appeal to me that much with this series.
Seemingly being Tetris with a twist, this game provided hours of fun for any who picked it up. The head to head mode was very enjoyable, and in my opinion better than other games of this particular genre.
As the game evolves more and more, it seems to get crowded. Not with players but with locations. The newer versions are still fun to play, but just aren’t quite the same as the original.
Extremely addictive survival game. Create your Viking, chop down some trees and some Greydwarfs and build a house! It may be in a early release stage, but the creators have done a great job so far and continue to impress me with every update!
The beginning of an extensive series of games. Brought finishing moves in the form of fatalities to the fighting world. The game was very clunky, but still fun to play.
Being the only Tomb Raider game I ever played, I must say it was enjoyable. Just not my cup of tea. I only played it a handful of times, an just couldn.t get into it.
The third game in the series and definitely my favorite. Adding more character customization and another great storyline makes for an extremely fun game.
Another amazing D&D based video game. This one is based on the Forgotten Realms campaign setting in the area known as IcewinD Dale (I know, crazy, huh?) These games were similar to the Baldur’s Gate games in gameplay, even though they were developed by Black Isle themselves instead of BioWare. Very similar concept to those games, different and well developed story line.
Building on the system (and success) of FFVII, FFVIII is a ton of entertainment for Final Fantasy fans. Introducing a new spell system does make the game a challenge but also works well for the game. It takes away from the monotony that earlier games tended to have.
Fun game. I don’t ever remember finishing it, but had a lot of fun playing. Might be the father of the whole multiple play through games for completion.
The innovation in this game was so astounding. I don’t as always in awe about how it knew where I was aiming. You could also tell if the system got hot, as you missed more shots. Still a great game, and introduced the kids to it as opposed to these fancy shooters of today.
MK3/UMK3 were the greatest games in the Mortal Kombat series. I spent the entire day at an arcade when this came out playing against anyone who wanted their butt kicked. Owned every version of this game just because there were slight differences.
The granddaddy of not just one, but two franchises. Jumpman(Mario before he was Mario) just wanted to save his girlfriend from the bad Donkey Kong. I always wanted to play this mini arcade game at my aunt and uncles house. If games today were this simple, yet challenging, while being so much fun, things would be better.
I had both the Gamecube version and the Wii version, and must say the GC version was easier to play, but the Wii version was way more fun. A great game either way, and lives up to the hype of The Legend of Zelda games.
Fixing all that was wrong with the original and fixing it as well as making the game just good in general, this was possibly the second best game in the series.
Good game, I however am not good at it. It is point and shoot, pick up loot. But, like most shooters, I am not good at not moving the mouse too much, and even worse if I try to use a controller.
One of the best D&D based games. The first one by BioWare that was based on D&D 3rd edition, and a vast improvement over older games. Huge replay value.
I give this 5 stars because the graphic update to the original story is on point. The story is on point. Much of the game is on point. The battle system. The dialogs. The controls. Everything. The bad thing is, it is Square Enix, and they will probably release either 37 iterations of the game, or this little expansion here or there to tell the final story. They aren't quite as bad as some, nor is it the same game over and over, but I just want it all at once for one price.
Junior just wants his dad back. No, his dad didn’t go get a gallon of milk, he’s being held captive. That’s right, that evil man Mario is holding Donkey Kong captive and Junior just wants to rescue him. A great game that was as much fun as the original DK. And the only time Mario is portrayed as the bad guy.
Another story. Another great game based in D&D, this time 3.5e. The last in these classic games for a while. Still worth picking up to play today. While 3.5 is my favorite D&D ruleset, this game is not quite as good as the first NWN, in my opinion.
