Wonder Momo: Typhoon Booster
Wonder Momo: Typhoon Booster is a sequel to the 1987 game Wonder Momo. The player controls the schoolgirl Momoko, daughter of the original Momo. She dreamed of becoming an idol who sings, acts and models. Instead, she became a battle idol when the alien Glooder crash-landed on Earth, became a friend and gave her a power orb that allows her to transform into a superhero: Wonder Momo. The game starts in Akihabara (Japan) as a Waru invasion threatens the district, but she also gets to battle in other locations in Tokyo and across the universe.

Just like the original game it is a 2D side-scrolling action game with only a single plane for movement. Momo can move around, jump and duck. This is used to avoid projectiles and to attack with a number of kicks as she progresses to the right through levels. Below the health meter in the top left corner there is a wonder meter that fills up by collecting orbs along the way. With a certain amount she can transform into her stronger Wonder Momo form at any moment. She can attack with a Wonder Hoop she can throw. It does not return automatically, so she has to pick it up before it can be used again, even when leaving the screen. She can use Wonder Waves to shoot short bursts of energy as projectiles. Attacks can be combined into combos. While in Wonder mode the meter depletes and when there is nothing left she returns to her normal form. There are platform sections and gaps where she can fall down and dies immediately. During the game conversations with character portraits appear near the bottom of the screen. Certain levels have boss battles and cut-scenes that further the story. There is a limited amount of credits to continue. During the levels she collects tokens that are used in a separate Momo Catcher mini-game where artwork and music can be unlocked. It also contains 26 Wonder Momo comic strips that tell her origin story. The game supports cooperative multiplayer where the second player controls the classic version of Wonder Momo. This title not only builds on the original game, but also on the 2012 200-page webcomic released by Namco Bandai Games' ShiftyLook project with UDON Entertainment.
