Blood and Gore, Intense Violence, Sexual Themes, Strong Language
This is a survival horror game in which players assume the role of Murphy Pendleton, a prison inmate stranded in the fictional town of Silent Hill. Players explore mysterious environments, investigate clues and objects, and interact with various characters. Players use axes, pipes, knives, and shotguns to kill demonic creatures that screech/cry out in pain when struck; blood-splatter effects occur during combat. Bloodstained corpses and body parts are depicted in some environments; one sequence depicts writhing torsos that spew out blood. Cutscenes also contain intense instances of violence: a child's neck getting snapped (off-screen); a police officer being stabbed in the ribs; a defenseless man getting beaten to death with a pipe. During the course of the game, some on-screen text contains sexual references (e.g., “. . . including third-degree murder and sexual assault of a child below the age of 14.”). The words “f**k” and “sh*t” can be heard in the dialogue.
