"It's a better Switch, which is what we wanted and I'll be excited to have one. The trailer wasn't all that exciting hardware-wise - it wasn't anywhere near as mind blowing as the Wii reveal, or Switch 1 for that matter. Mario Kart was the big reveal here and I'm thrilled for that. I'm not really ready to move on from the Switch 1, I have so much in my backlog and still really enjoy the multiplayer games. BUT since this is backwards compatible, that's a good justification for picking it up sooner rather than later. The updated stand and bigger screen are a plus. Hopes: -Pro Controllers can work natively with it. At the very least, they work with a dongle -Joy Cons are more reliable (less drifting, and no issues clicking into the console) -Online servers are better, and day 1 Mario Kart has minimal to no hiccups Again I'm more excited to tackle my backlog then pick this up, but I'm sure my hype level will go up after the April direct."

"I never saw the appeal of this series, it just looked too boring, with no real goals. I downloaded the mobile game so I could get MyNintendo coins from it, and while I started to see the appeal it didn't get its hooks in me. I passed when New Horizons was the big thing during the pandemic. Finally my kids asked for it for Christmas in 2022. We started playing together and it clicked! It's just an stress-free town building simulator really. I enjoy collecting things, meeting new residents, and the holiday events. I don't play as much these days but still go in at least once a month"

Maybe this is Channel 3's Wii U, a necessary step towards the switch. I do LOVE the ability to control everything I see! And see a lot of potential with the modules. Like, having a hard boss fight is fine most of the time, but you shouldn't also have sparse checkpoints where I have to make up 30 minutes of time just to get back to said boss. But also, enemies/bosses with really high health or defense just for the sake of being hard are not fun. Vagrant Story is one of the first RPGs I bounced off of, I remember enemies taking one damage at times. I'm sure some of it was a !skillissue but it felt like I had to grind my life away just to stand a chance"

It was surprising to learn how many games they created, I mostly knew of them for Shantae and Duck Tales Remastered I've been very okay with this sponsorship - I was nervous it would be too obtrusive but it hasn't been. It's felt like this season has highlighted a 3rd party worthy of the attention, drawing people towards their games with XP but not in a pay to play manner, just inviting good discourse about the games which is what we strive for. Loved the multiplayer aspect of the Gamecube, I put too many hours into Smash Melee and Double Dash among other games (Wave Race). "The friendships that began in TDG (specifically TDG Mario Kart) are friends I will have for life. I watched the page since the first month or so, then started playing with the group in season 7. The conversations we had on the Nintendo app and soon after Discord while we raced helped me get through the pandemic. This was my new group of friends from all over the world that I connected with while stuck at home. I still laugh thinking about some of the early conversations with the group, and was so excited every week to play on Mondays for wolves den and Thursday kart gangs. The banter, trash talk and team photos at the height of kart gangs were the best (and I hope we keep it going long into the future). TDG had other great moments for me too like retro night, where my kids cheered me on as I played through @super-mario-bros (even though I used the rewind function) and showed them how it was done back in the day. I won 2 jerseys at that event, ordered smalls so my kids could have them. Thanks for everything TDG. "

"I'm glad they dialed it down somewhat in the Xenoblade series because the lore was off the rails in this game. I really enjoyed the game overall, the battles and the gears were excellent, it had the usual level of polish that Squaresoft games at the time had. But it went deep into religion, politics, psychology and more. I remember 45 minute cut scenes in some places. I haven't touched it in 25 years or so but I really can't remember a lot of the story other than it being overly complex. "

"One of the best games of all time in my mind still. It didn't have the newness as much as BOTW but it was such a massive, fun around every corner game. The biggest surprise here was the depths, I loved that even if exploring it wasn't as fun as the overworld. So many pieces of the game could have been games on their own - the Zonai builds, the ascend ability, fusing- and they were all here! I finished all shrines and intend to go back for some side quests and maybe another playthrough. I won't run through it as much as Link to the Past but that's just because it's so long. But I'll still remember this as one of the best. "

"Saga Frontier 2 isn't in the library yet, I'll take care of that later. In the game you play through two somewhat intertwining stories of the two protagonists. At the end of the game, each story concludes with a grand battle - one done as a regular turn-based, the other is a strategy battle. As I recall you can't do any leveling up to make the strategy battle any easier, you just have to play intelligently and have some luck. I did beat it after several tries, and then beat the turn-based battle after leveling up a lot as one does in JRPGs. Never touched the game again after that but it was memorable. The image is the first one I could find of a strategy battle from the game. The art was amazing for PS1! Honorable mention goes to Earthbound when I got the Sword of Kings (1/128 chance of drop from a certain enemy)"

"It took me all day and this is where I landed. Both of these games are on my Mt Rushmore so this was the hardest decision. SMW is one of my most replayed, favorite childhood games. MK8 is my favorite game of my adult life, and is the reason I met this group. A few pros for MK8: -best multiplayer game ever for me -met the best group of online gaming friends through it, and it's a continual bonding experience with that group -I have a history of playing Kart with family -the multiplayer aspect gives a level of satisfaction for victories that single player games don't give And for SMW: -it was a gamechanger, and a masterclass in platforming -nostalgia. I will enjoy replaying this the rest of my life. I may not say the same for MK8, after its sequels are released -inspired so many games -timeless If I had to pick the Mario Kart series versus Mario, I would probably go with Mario Kart. That's had a more meaningful impact to me overall. But for an individual game, I somewhat begrudgingly pick SMW. Also @darthsmeagol offered me a wheelbarrow full of Loonies for this"

"I'm always behind on current games, so while most of these interest me I've only played the demo of Sea of Stars so far. That said I loved it and have been looking forward to diving into the full game for awhile now. Chrono Trigger is on my Mt Rushmore, so this game was made for me and gets the win. As others have pointed out though, these are very different games. Sea of Stars is an homage to retro games, and likely a more compact experience in a field with giant AAA RPGs. If I had to decide between BG3 and FFXVI, which seem to be the most apples-to-apples competition, I'd say I'm more intrigued by BG3. I'm a lifelong FF guy but BG3 feels more new and exciting."

"LABO! Ok that's a half joking answer. We enjoyed Labo here. There's a lot of great options here but I will pick the NES Four Score. I have 2 brothers (one is @atreides) and for awhile we couldn't play games together since the NES and SNES only had 2 controller ports. The NES Four Score changed that. Honestly I don't recall buying this, we sold our NES when I was around 10 but I think we had or borrowed this. And I know we had an accessory inspired by this that allowed more than 2 players on the SNES (and then the N64 came along and ushered in 4 players from the get-go). The growing number of players was a really memorable change."

I lurked for the next 6 months since I didn't own Mario Kart 8 on the Switch, I had it on the Wii U. When the pandemic hit, my son wanted to play Kart against his friends on the Switch so I knew it was time. Bought the game, started playing in the TDG races, got humbled, quit the races for a season out of frustration, came back and been loving it ever since. This is the first time I've become friends with people through online gaming."

"The gameplay, music and puzzle mechanics have been top tier since the original. Those alone can draw me in, but every new game ups the ante in building excitement at exploring and discovering new things. I’d say the only drawback is the simple yet convoluted story, though the extensive interesting lore makes up for it. On the discoverability piece again, the old folks will remember the paper map of the over world that came with the original game. Most of the overworld is fleshed out on the map but some parts are left intentionally blank. I have fond memories as a kid of drawing in those blank rectangles with my mom while playing through it. "
