Luigi's Mansion 3
My youngest loves this game. She played it at @gorgontears house a few years ago. She just saw it in the store and asked if we could get it. She loves playing it and more importantly she asks me if I can play it with her. That's an automatic 5 stars from me.

Tabletop Axis & Allies
This is my GOAT. There is not, nor will there ever be, a boardgame with as many hours as I have put into this game. So many great memories playing this game and my review will reflect that.

First of all, knowing what kind of game Axis & Allies is matters. It is a scenario based strategic historical war game. There are very limited goals (capture the other capitals) and the choices the players can make are confined within the scenario. A lot of the freedom of play within modern board games is not found here because this is scenario based war game where the slight changes in tactics and luck make a difference. You are the generals standing over a map of the battlefield running your options over and over. If you want more scenarios to simulate there are several more A&A games to depict both smaller battlefields and other worldwide wars. (I've always wanted to play the WWI based A&A 1914)

I have played this game with several groups and most of them really get into it. Everyone is standing just about the entire time walking around the table and looking at the battles from different perspectives. The teams (Axis or Allies) are always talking over different strategies and options, and since everyone is at the table together you might try to throw some deceptive intel out and see if your opponents bite. The more you get into the idea and treat it like the war room table depicted in movies and shows the more enjoyment you will get from this game.

This is definitely a looong game. The time on the box is 3 hours and that is probably one of the shortest games of this I've played. This is a commitment. I've had full day gaming sessions where we only played this game (8-12 hours). I would love to play some more of these with some of the other A&A games.

This is a very niche game where the engagement matters. If you are a war or historical buff you might enjoy this game.

Tabletop Concordia
I've played so many games over the years it sometimes takes ma a bit to remember which game is what. This time it took reading @dennis 's review.

It's a good game. I like the theme and the strategy behind the game. I'm not big on the collect different resources like brick, wheat, fabric and such. I always seem to struggle with that element in a game.
0
Tabletop Betrayal at House on the Hill
A very fun game where you are exploring a haunted house. At some point in the game there is a haunting and one player turns on the others. The objective it to survive.

There are a lot of scenarios in this game. A few of them are not the clearest but that is definitely not worth knocking a star off.
0
Tabletop Blood Rage
Ok. I love this game for a lot of reasons.

First, the components of this game are fantastic. If you love miniatures then you have to check this game out. I painted the miniatures for my friend's copy of the game and they look great. There are normal sized miniatures for your Vikings and over sized ones for the monsters.

Second, there are many different ways to score. Each card has one of the Viking gods listed on it. Use ones with the same god to create a point engine machine and watch your score climb. Some focus on winning battles or controlling areas or even dying the most. The key is picking a strategy and going with it.

Finally, I enjoy PvP and take that games. You are Viking clans battling each other for glory. But based on the gods my glory might be different than your glory.

Tabletop Monopoly (Boardgame)
Its hard to deny the hours of play with my siblings. (Yes I am the oldest so I was the one inflicting the trauma😆) Monopoly, Clue, Sorry, and Trouble where the games we would play growing up and the nostalgic feeling i get when thinking of this game matters.

Its not a game I would invite friends over to play but my children enjoy playing it with me and who can argue against that. We actually have the Ultimate Banking Edition and it helps with a lot of the issues people have. Electronic scoring so it's hard to cheat and every game we've played has been completed in an hour.

Historical, this is such an important game too. It might not hold up to the standards of today, but it held the standard of family gaming for so long. If Babe Ruth can still be considered one of the greatest baseball players of all time then I can't give this less than 3 stars.
0
Tabletop Munchkin
The game that almost ended @dennis and my friendship early on.

I come from a family where take that mechanics are a big deal. If someone screws you over early in a game it is ok to hold on to that until later in the game and get them back even if it doesn't affect the outcome of the game. I learned that night that the rest of my boardgame group did not have that background or play that way. Thus I've been labeled the one to backstab the group or be the traitor. Ironically any game we've played that has a traitor mechanic always ends up being someone else.

All that being said, it is a good game with the right group.
0
Tabletop Power Grid
This game was such a drag to me. It was long and tedious.
0
Tabletop Dixit
It's your typical party game of everyone has cards and you try to find one that matches the clue that was given. Where it differs is it revolves around art work and the clue giver is trying to have you guess their card and everyone else is trying to get you to pick theirs.
0
Tabletop Lords of Waterdeep
I love worker placement games and this is fantastic game. There are numerous ways to score so it's not like everyone is trying to do the exact same things. The expansion are fantastic and add even more variety to the game.
0
Tabletop Sorry
One of my favorites as a kid. I came from a family where "take that" mechanics were key to our games.
0
Tabletop Boss Monster Crash Landing
If you love Boss Monster but your game group is larger than 4 then this expansion allows you to play up to 6 players. The introduction of a new treasure type brings new possibilities.
0
Tabletop Overboss: A Boss Monster Adventure
The second entry into the Boss Monster world.

Overboss is a 16 bit video game world where you are not building a single dungeon to attract heroes to their demise. The Boss Monster's are now crafting the entire video game world. Draft terrain tiles to fill out your video game world. Each terrain scores differently. With a large number of terrains to choose from no two games will be the same.
0
Tabletop Overboss Duel
A fun variant of Overboss. This two player version uses a single board where each player builds their world on half of the board. However, if you notice your opponent gaining some momentum you may build your tile on their half and disrupt their plans.
0
Tabletop Dungeon Kart
Being a fan of the BossMonster world and Mario Kart I was looking forward to this game. It did not disappoint me. I have played several "Kart style" board games and this one feels the most like Mario Kart the Board Game. After playing a preview round at GenCon I backed the top tier of the Kickstarter and got every element for the game available.

The Bosses are tired of luring heroes to their demise and decide to enjoy a "friendly" kart race around the dungeons. The track is completely modular. Race over spell books to learn spells that you may use against the other racers. But look out. The heroes have made their way onto the track and cause you to spin out.
0
Tabletop Harry Potter: Hogwarts Battle
This was my families Covid lockdown game. We played this game a lot.

Welcome to the Wizarding World. Work your way through the books/movies in the deck building cooperative game. As you progress through the game you will open new boxes containing new cards from the correlating book. Once you complete the 7th box you have the ability to customize your content and play at any level of difficulty.
0
Tabletop Catan
Its a good game. My problem is most of the time I play it with people who "PLAY CATAN." As some who plays it every once in great while (last time was 4 years ago) I end up not finding it enjoyable. It's probably much like a super casual player hopping in a lobby of Mario Kart or Fortnite with a bunch of sweaty try hard. It's a game I'll play, but never one I look to play.
0
Tabletop Harry Potter: Hogwarts Battle - The Charms and Potions Expansion
The Charms and Potions expansion completes Hogwarts Battle. This expansion adds so much to the game. The charms allow you to customize your character by adding new elements or enhancing your characters strengths. The potions are created by accomplishing small task during your battles and collecting ingredients. Ginny Weasley becomes a playable character.
0
Tabletop King of Tokyo
Its Yatzee/king of the hill/monsters. Fantastic game!!! Great as an entry into modern board games. Quick easy rounds. Highly recommend.
0
Tabletop King of Tokyo: Power Up!
Every expansion for King of Tokyo has brought new and exciting elements to the game.
0
Tabletop King of Tokyo: Halloween
A great Halloween themed expansion that can be played any time of the year.
0
Tabletop The Expanse Board Game
This is a fantastic area control political game. I can honestly say every time we've played this game it has come down to the final few turns. This is a solid game.
0
Tabletop The Expanse Boardgame: Doors and Corners
If you are going the play The Expanse Boardgame then you need this expansion.
0
Tabletop Harry Potter: Hogwarts Battle - The Monster Box of Monsters Expansion
A fantastic expansion to the base game. Face off against the terrifing creatures in the Forbidden Forrest or collect new creatures to assist you as you face "You know who." Luna Lovegood becomes a playable character.
0
Tabletop DinoGenics: Controlled Chaos
This is a great expansion to DinoGenics. It adds a variety of options to the game. The most substantial is adding aquatic species. This allows you to customize your island even further. Is everyone else trying to get T-rex or raptors? Then you can build your island around a mosasaur in a giant aquarium.
0
Tabletop DinoGenics
Build your own Jurassic Park.

This was the first game I ever backed on Kickstarter, and I can't tell you how happy I am with that choice. This is perhaps my favorite tabletop game. I have every element for this game and the expansions.

This is a wonderful worker placement where you send your workers to the main island to perform task such as researching dino DNA, buying fences or goats, recruiting guest, or sabotaging your opponents. You then use the resources collected to build your own dinosaur amusement park island. Build your reputation through engineering different types of dinosaurs to attract tourist and watch your victory points climb.
0
Tabletop Disney Villainous: The Worst Takes it All
I really enjoy the Villainous games. I'm normally not one to play as the bad guys (except Mario golf) but this is quite enjoyable. Yes some characters are easier than others and some can be a little awkward, but with all the expansion there are plenty to choose from.

The best part is my wife enjoys playing these games as well.
0
Tabletop Boss Monster: The Dungeon Building Card Game
Boss Monster introduces you to a world of video game bosses. You are the 8 bit game bosses trying to build a dungeon that will lure the heroes to their demise. Will your dungeon be more attractive to heroes than your opponent's dungeon or do you find the heroes prefer the other dungeons? No worries. Use spells to disrupt your opponent's plans.
0
Tabletop Marvel Villainous: Infinite Power
If you're into Marvel this is a good entry in the Villainous series. The biggest differences between it and the original are shared Fate decks and the ability to play on others boards as well (multiversity stuff I guess).
0
Tabletop Star Wars Villainous: Power of the Dark Side
I enjoy the Villainous series and of course jumped all over the Star Wars version. Thematically it does a great job exploring the different eras in Star Wars whether it is the Clone Wars or Rebellion. New Star Wars specific elements such as Ships and ambition. As with all Villainous games there are some characters which are easier and some more difficult.
0
Tabletop 7 Wonders
A solid game. I always have fun playing it, but never win.
0
Tabletop Codenames
Fun party game. But more importantly, my kids love this game. We have several versions and they love playing all of them.
0
Tabletop Azul
My wife and I love this game and it's one I can just about guarantee she beats me at. Love the mechanics of collecting tiles and creating a pattern mosaic.
0
Tabletop Castle Panic
This is a great game to get your kids into gaming. It is a tower defense type game where you work to fight of the hoard of monsters. It is a cooperative game which works great for my family. And it has specific game setup instructions for playing with younge players.
0
Tabletop Scythe
This is not a game for casual board gamers. This is a heavy duty game and you need to be ready for it. And it is fantastic! I really wish I had more time to play more games like this.
0
Tabletop Splendor
A really good game that several in my game group love. It's not really my thing, but it gets 5 stars because it's solid and my friends enjoy it.
0
Tabletop Ticket to Ride: Europe
This is the version of TtR I have for my family. Plays like the original with some additional rules to fit the European setting. Hard to go wrong with a TtR game.
0
Tabletop Agricola
I remember playing it and having fun, but we play so many games it doesnt really stand out in my memory.
0
Tabletop Ticket to Ride
Great intro to gaming games. There are a lot of great train games out there.
0
Tabletop Gardens of Babylon
I backed this on Kickstarter. It is a fun tile placement game where you are racing to the top of the ziggurat. Sometimes the 3D attempt on the 2d tiles can mess with your eyes, but overall it's a pretty fun game.
0
Tabletop Tsuro
A fun, simple game where you place tiles to create a path for your stone. As tiles are placed it can create new paths for other players and send them off the board. The goal is to be the last one on the board.

A great palate cleanser between heavier games.
0
Tabletop Carcassonne
I enjoy Carcassonne. You draw tiles and figure out how to attach it to a growing countryside of cities, roads, and fields. The base game has simple ways to score but the expansion add many new scoring methods.
0
Tabletop SpongeBob SquarePants: Plankton Rising
This is one of my daughter's favorite games. Play as SpongeBob, Patrick, Squidward, or Mr. Krabs as you recruit othe caracters to you team. Stop Plankton from stealing the secret formula while you fulfill customer's orders.

This is the only version of the Rising games I've played but after playing it i want to play the others.
0
Tabletop Pandemic
I enjoy this game but rarely beat it. It really depends on who you play with. Our game group is awful with this style of game but I know my cousins love this style of game and really enjoy these.
0
Connections (2023)
Find manufactured connections of things. No thank you.
0
Princess Peach: Showtime!
I haven't personally played it, but my youngest daughter loves it. That's good enough to get 5 stars from me. It connects with its target audience.
0
Star Wars Hunters
Love having a Star Wars game on the Switch. It reminds me a lot of Splatoon with 4 on 4, the small maps, and different game modes. There is enough variety of characters that everyone should be able to find someone they are good with.
0
Splatoon 3
Better than Fortnite, but not the type of game I enjoy. But I do enjoy playing with the Splat Cr3w so I'll keep playing
0
Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity
Yes it's a button masher. But the story... wow. This sets the stage for BotW. It does a fantastic job taking you through Zelda's progression leading up to the Calamity. It is more about her Legend than any other LoZ I've ever played.
0
PAW Patrol: On a Roll
Spent many hours watching Paw Patrol with the kids. Fond memories. Don't let the haters destroy the 5 stars. Keep it up.
0
Super Mario Bros. Wonder
This gets a five star for the reason I only gave TotK 4 stars. My 8 y/o has that look in her eyes when she plays Wonder. I am only playing this game with her. No solo for me until we beat it. There are games which are great for us adults, but the greatest of games capture the imagination and wonder (😉) of kids and adults.
0
Fortnite
I'm not a shooter guy. From that perspective it gets 2 stars. Since I started playing because of Ahsoka, having a lightsaber is a blast. I give it four stars there. I also enjoy doing the quest (so far) more than the battle royale aspect. Therefore I settle on 3 stars
0
Coffee Golf
A fun little game. I've never been big on the play once a day games. Wish there were a few set courses you could play several times.
0
Baseball Stars
I love this game. First game I remember buying with my own money.
0
Grimace's Birthday
I like this style of game. Fun and simple. The retro vibe helps as well not to mention the milkshake isn't bad either.
0
The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom
Before you hate let me explain. This is a 5 star game, but there is one issue which dropped it for me and I'll get to it in a bit.

First, as of writing this I have not finished the game so aspects of my review might change. I absolutely loved Breath of the Wild and TotK is the perfect sequel. The feel of BotW remains and is expanded in TotK. The added 3 dimensional aspect through exploring the Sky and Underground is fantastic. Everything which was great in BotW is made even better in TotK.

The storyline of TotK is very cohesive. Each cut scene/flashback/memory adds elements to understanding what's going on in the game and even helps solve some of the "big questions" Link is facing. I made finding the memories a priority before I even attempt any of the dungeons.

Overall I did like the Sheikah Slate abilities from BotW better than the Zonai abilities. This is mostly because of my playstyle. The ability to create devices and contraptions is cool but I find myself searching for other solutions first. Fuse is great for using with arrows, but I would rather have decent weapons rather than having to add a giant boulder onto a sword and have this monstrosity on my back. Ascend is amazing. It is my favorite ability in TotK. Rewind is ok but I haven't done much with it at this point. I often find myself wishing for the bombs and cryonis from BotW. These are just a matter of my preferences. I realize others will play the game differently and use some of the abilities more than I do.

Ok. Here it is. The reason I only gave this a 4 star rating. The Gloom feels too much like a horror game and scares my 8y/o. She loves BotW and was looking forward to this game. I find myself encouraging her to play BotW instead of TotK and that bothers me. Yes, this is a fantastic game for us old guys, but if a Zelda game can't be played by a child then it missed what should be its target audience. I couldn't imagine it being 1988 and 8y/o me having nightmares from Zelda II (and yes its difficulty was a different type of nightmare.) I love Zelda games today because 8y/o me was able to play Zelda II. My daughter not being able to play TotK because it is too scary is my biggest disappointment in the Zelda franchise.
0
Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic
I am not a fan of this style of RPG. I hear the story is great, but I can't get past the gameplay. I got bored.
Lists: Abandoned

Marvel Snap
A fun and addictive game and I do recommend playing it. However, the few elements I have issues with keep it from being a 5 star game.

I absolutely despise the ability to retreat. It disproportionately hurts the person who was winning (only getting half the cubes of what they would have got) while reducing the number of cubes lost by the one who retreats.

The other complaint I have is there is no upgrading of cards. The upgrading ability in the game is strictly aesthetic. The cards look better and flashy, but there is no difference between a base level card and a fully (infinite) upgraded card when it comes to game play. There should be a way to upgrade the card's ability or power or lower its cost. Imaging the drive to upgrade if the cost dropped by 1 (min. 1) when you reach infinite level. Make upgrading a little more difficult than it is now and you would add a powerful motivation to work at the game and upgrade.

Kirby and the Forgotten Land
We've had this for a few weeks and my youngest loves it. She'll be off on her own playing and we'll hear her laughing when Kirby becomes something new and silly.
0
MLB The Show 22
It's been a while since I played a baseball game. I really enjoyed this game
0
Zelda II: The Adventure of Link
This is Zelda for me. This is the first one I played and the basis for playing Zelda irl as a kid. I still play this one. I've never beat it, but I love it.

Edit. I finally beat it. Still my favorite Zelda game and one I will keep playing.
0
Super Mario Bros.
What can I say. This is the gold standard of gaming for me. Is it fun? Is it challenging (as a 9 year old with the square controller)? Do you get better by playing thus making it enjoyable as you reach a new stage? The answers are yes and why most of my great gaming memories are tied up in this game
0
Super Mario Run
It's nice time killer and the young one enjoys it.
0
The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword
Got the remake on the switch. I really enjoy playing Zelda games. The controls probably worked better on the wii with the motion controls.
0
Flow
A fun little puzzle game. My youngest really enjoys playing it.
0
Excitebike
Whenever we would go to Blockbuster this was my $1 rental pick
0
Mario Kart Wii
This is the game that got me hooked on Mario Kart. My wife and I would play this together (before kids). What great memories.
0
Super Mario Bros. 2
What a wacky twist to Super Mario. That's what made it so fun. I can still hear the music in my head as I type this.
0
The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers
This was a blast to play. I remember finishing my last class of the semester and then staying up all night with a buddy playing this.
0
Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout
Fun and a blast to play with the kids. I just wonder if this is a flash up game and will be out of style soon
0
Yoshi's Crafted World
My 6y/o absolutely loves this game and I enjoy playing it with her. That's enough for a 5 star from me.
0
Jim Henson's Muppets Party Cruise
Mario Party, but with Muppets on a cruise ship! And truth be told, I enjoy these mini games more than any Mario Party I've ever played. (I played it on a PS2)
0
Minesweeper
Simple concept, but a challenge. My family would see who could clear it the quickest. Nerds.
0
The Bugs Bunny Crazy Castle
My dad wasn't a gamer so I have very few gaming memories with him. But Bugs Bunny Crazy Castle is one of them. I remember taking turns working through the levels and making a list of the level codes so we could return to the current level. (I might still have the list too.) I found out much later that my dad stayed up late to beat the game. He then helped me with the game never letting on that he had worked through it.

Adding to the memories, I have introduced this game to my daughters and they love it. What a wonderful experience to be on this side of the game.
0
Star Wars: TIE Fighter
I couldn't wait for this game to be released. I loved X-Wing and played it non stop. When TIE Fighter was announced I saved my money and begged dad to take me to the store to get it. What a wonderful game this was. Challenging and entertaining. Everything a teenage boy could ask for in a Star Wars game.

Mario Kart Tour
I play this way too much. The best part of this game is the tracks change every 2 weeks. That's what keeps it fun and why I think the added the expansion pass tracks to MK8.
0
Mario Golf: Super Rush
I absolutely love this game. I gave it 4 stars as an average between solo and online mode. The game is at its best when played with others. Especially if playing with others like myself who enjoy using special shots to screw with your opponents. (I also enjoy being the victim of a well placed special shot.)
0
Contra
Kids today wouldn't survive this game (don't give them the code)
0
Super Mario Bros. 3
There was nothing bigger than the release of SMB3. I remember the joy of checking the mailbox and finding the Nintendo Power Super Mario Bros. 3 edition. Even today, I love this game. It is perhaps the only retro game from my childhood I will pick up and still enjoy playing.
0
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate
As someone new to Smash Bros this is a bit overwhelming with all the character options. Plus, never having played a SSB game the concept of "off stage" is really hard to get used to and I make myself fall off all the time.

Update: I just lowered it a star. See my Rage Quit question post. https://channel3.gg/quest?id=69

2nd Update on request of @elrey. Everything said before still holds, but I raised it some. I've had the game for a year now and it is slowly growing on me. Who you play with matters. Setting the rules preferences for online play helps. A lot less of the craziness of trying to learn everything, but still too many characters to allow someone to pick the game up and easily slide in. I think it will max out at 3/5 for me.
