Honkai: Star Rail (Chinese: 崩坏: 星穹铁道; pinyin: Bēng huài: Xīng Qióng Tiě Dào; lit. 'Honkai: Star Dome Railway') is an upcoming free-to-play 3D tactical role-playing game developed and published by HoYoverse. It is the fourth installment in the Honkai series, using brand new characters along with alternate versions of existing characters from Honkai Impact 3rd. Honkai: Star Rail has players control a team of up to four characters, which make up a team. Elements of open-world and dungeon exploration are present, with focus being on turn-based strategic combat.

This is a strategy role-playing game in which players follow characters exploring the universe and seeking answers to a space train's purpose. From a third-person perspective, players explore ship/space train locations, solve puzzles, and battle crystal-like figures in turn-based combat. Players take turns using swords, spears, arrows, and pistols to kill enemies; battles are highlighted by dwindling hit points/life meters, impact sounds, and blaster fire. A handful of female characters wear revealing outfits (e.g., low-cut tops, deep cleavage); some cutscenes employ camera angles that linger on characters' chests.
