The Game Boy Color (commonly abbreviated as GBC) is a handheld game console, manufactured by Nintendo, which was released in Japan on October 21, 1998 and to international markets that November. It is the successor to the Game Boy and is part of the Game Boy product line.
I got the atomic purple Gameboy color for Christmas one year, but my parents only got me one game to go with it. Sabrina The Animated Series Zapped! I didn’t care. I took that Gameboy everywhere with me and played that game over and over.
I jealously saw my friends have these with their pokemon in colour. My envy will make this a 5-star system until I die. I have one now for my collection and love it.
Really just a minor improvement over the original GameBoy. Wasn’t really worth getting unless you didn’t already have a GB or you were super into handheld gaming.
I spent a ton of time beating Test Drive 6. I forgot about that one until now. Then of course, the obligatory Pokemon Blue. The system really was good and my mom made me start using rechargeable batteries. This is a great system if you can get your hands on one!
My Gameboy can have color! Mind blown. This was the system that I went full pokemon and never looked back. So psyched when I got the light fixture to play in the car at night
I didn’t get many color games, I just didn’t play much handheld this iteration (was in high school). It’s a great system but didn’t change the game as much as other handhelds in my opinion.
Family vacations were tolerable playing Pokémon in the back seat. Hooking up with friends systems to trade Pokémon was a good time and changed the game for me.
I honestly don't remember any game I had for this except for one: Pokemon (Yellow). With everything I do now, this is when mobile gaming really started for me. This made being in the car more enjoyable & sometimes I had hoped for longer rides just to continue playing. Having the cord too to be able to trade Pokemon was the best (at that time)!
One Christmas my parents gave all 4 of us kids our own Gameboy Color. The amount of games we had between the 4 of us was pretty crazy. This handheld system saved us from many hours of boredom in the long car rides. I wish i still had mine.
Huge jumó from the original Gameboy to this! Just the size difference alone made it worth it! Although I didn’t use this for very long before the next advancement came out…
