It Takes Two
Picked this one up to play with the wife. She is not a gamer beyond puzzle games (tetris, puyo puyo, dr. mario, panel de pon) but aside from her having to learn to use a thumbstick, it has been great fun! The puzzles are enjoyable and require working together. The storyline is interesting if a little dark. But all and all a great experience!

Splatoon 3
While there is a single player campaign this one shines as Nintendo’s answer to all the other FPS. It could do better to teach you about the game types, but once you figure them out and think about the strats the fun really begins. This one is best played with voice communication with other members of the Splat Cr3w. Getting paired with Randoms is a complete roll of the dice as squad based combat really needs people to communicate.

This is also a great choice for kids as it is non-violent colorful and quirky as all get out.

Target
While all the Big 3 C3 games are 5-star bangers, Target is my favorite. As someone who has spent a significant amount of time on the tracks of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, I appreciate the challenge of identifying the specific area of a track. I haven't spent nearly as much time on any other game that has Target (although I appreciate the variety). I assume that players of those games are equally as enthused with the C3 Target experience.

Trivia
I thoroughly enjoy the diversity that this game has to offer. Frequently, I encounter games that may have come out during my dark ages (getting married, house, kids, job grinding for promotion). I make a habit of reading the game descriptions of featured games and have learned a lot and even gone down a few rabbit holes and added games to lists to investigate later.

The daily task of completing the Big 3 on Channel 3 is as routine as a cup of coffee. Unrivaled and never outdone.

Marbles On Stream
!play
I stumbled onto Marbles randomly while clicking through random Twitch streams and was immediately hooked by the concept. RNG chilling in the chatbox while you will sprites across a screen with no control is kind of relaxing.
The community around Marbles is really interesting as well. Community skins, pit races, leagues, it brings out the best in gaming and all for the low cost of entry of 5 characters in a chatbox. !great

Jaws (NES)
This might just be the first game that was optimized in my house. My brother and I had beaten it so many times that I seem to recall setting up a speedrun of sorts. HUGE fan of the movie and this was a great game adaptation.

Connections (2023)
Not quite Wordle, but often completed in the same breath. Occasionally people share their scores with me, but again not Wordle.

Word association is a solid premise, but it’s also super shallow. Not a lot to it, but sometimes that’s alright. It gets 4 stars because I’m a sucker for a puzzle game.

Mario Kart Wii
This one with tilt controls was such a fun experience. It was enough to get my girlfriend at the time (now Mrs. Funk) to get a Wii so we could play online together. Lots of crazy blue shells and shouting over speakerphone. I’m certain it’s during one of these nights that she realized I’m wired differently and yet she still bought in.

If I were to criticize the game, I’d say that the rainbow road (remade in MK8DX) is god awful with the longest falls and the tempting ramps over the giant holes in the track.

Wordle
I get a text every morning like clockwork from my Mom with her daily Wordle score. Occasionally, it is accompanied by a comment or two about how hard the word is to figure out. Some days these texts get lost in the momentum of the day. Other days, I take space from it all play Wordle and have a chat with my Mom.

Wordle brings people together. That’s what gaming is all about.

Limbo
Grabbed this one because Inside is so good. Minimal in a way that just works. Glad I gave it a play through.

Inside
This delightfully graphically dystopian side scroller is equal parts perplexing and weird. It is one of those games that leaves you wanting more (and expecting more out of other games).

GRIS
This game is gorgeous and the music is phenomenal. It’s a good reminder about video games as a medium. I’ll be seeking out more like it,

General Chaos
I remember repeatedly renting this for sleepovers with the Bros. We would wage war all night and not see a blink of sleep.

Boogerman: A Pick and Flick Adventure
I played the absolute hell out of this game. A side scroller where you flick boogers, projectile burp and fart, and fly across the screen whilst farting was perfect for my 10-year old budding punk rocker self.
