I came here to chew bubble gum and play video games, and I got some bubblegum right here. You are most likely to find Smash Brothers and Mario Kart here.
Tony Hawk 2 made all the kids like punk rock. Fight me. I made out with so many boys based on their Tony Hawk 2 stats. I probably shouldn’t admit that in public.
May have the best graphics out of any Zelda but the newest. For real. I loved the style and the gameplay. Super fun, super different, and I need to do another play-through.
I swear this game got me through graduate school. I'd pretend whatever I had to shoot was a professor.
No, seriously, this was different, innovative, and super-fun, especially if you had a bunch of friends over. I'm bummed it doesn't work with my current TV set-up.
This game made me want to learn to play the drums. Then I actually did. I'm not kidding. The guitar action was okay. But the drumming was realistic enough to make you want to jam out for real.
I played this freaking game for HOURS with my brother. The cooperative gameplay was awesome for its time, and it was totally kawaii before America had kawaii. I handed this game to my (English-speaking) kids and a little girl who only spoke Spanish, and they were all playing together in no time. Super-fun. My sons still beg me to play it with them.
Omg this game is amazing on so many levels. My kids love it. It’s Zelda on a whole different level, like you’ve never seen it. Can’t compare to the rest of the franchise — it’s like apples and ice cream.
If you want a fun play-through with minimal consequences and a ton of fun, this is it. Great to play with your kids. Great to ditch your kids with for some adult time. Great to, uh, "zone out with" during some adult time.
It was wacky. Did it make sense? Not unless you'd ingested peyote. Who cared? Not me. This was one of my favorite Genesis games of all freaking time and remains so.
If you don't know the Konami code, I'm not giving it to you. No, don't look it up. You have to get it from your best friend while you're playing Contra in his basement, drinking Ecto Cooler, and hiding from his mom.
I've played this game both before and after they pulled Mike Tyson's name from the title. Never before has been fighting broad ethnic and social stereotypes been more acceptable. I also feel like I've learned a lot about boxing. Like you can't do an uppercut without a star, and each opponent will have a bunch of quirky, idiosyncratic moves to decode and exploit.
Unironic five stars from me, and from my BFF, who in his late thirties used to come over to work out his aggression on this game in between breaks running a mayoral campaign— he'd sit down and beat the s*** out of everyone until second Bald Bull, who would beat God in a fistfight.
My favorite sports game. My brother and I spent waaaaaay too much time playing this one. Best matchup was always the small and swift Americans versus the burly, stereotypical Russians, and even if you played the Russians, you felt patriotic when you lost.
This was HARD AS HELL. I had a boyfriend who was super into it, and I spent a lot of time spectating. Totally worth the watching, totally worth watching the cursing.
