Best MMO around. Every time you look for an alternative you find reasons why WoW has stuck around for as long as I have been alive almost. Angry British raid leader told me I was good at healing, 10/10 experience.
Plunderstorm Update:
Since I can't post a dedicated Plunderstorm review, I am adding it on here! Plunderstorm is an insanely fun and addictive battle royale mode that isn't really WoW at all. A very unique and interesting take on the battle royale genre that really only borrows WoW's art style and engine. -1 star only because the average WoW player has to grind what is essentially a separate game for rewards in WoW when it should be its own separate game in the Battle.net client.
I didn't get high speed Internet until about 2010, so I missed out on the heyday. I will say I was never a fan of how it seemed to take over the lives of some people I knew.
This game is the definition of addiction. You will hear folks talk about the game and they will say they were addicted to it.
I played for several years and that is all that I would do from the time I got home from work until i went to bed daily.
That is why I rated it a 4 instead of 5 because you can lose hours, days, months or years to this game if you are not careful.
I used to rate this game a lot higher, but the gameplay has become very repetive. I recently had to play again for a class and was disappointed that the level squish got rid of some of the more fun starting zones and replaced it with this generic starting zone (I know there are still racial zones after), especially the death knight starting zone being basically gone. I still hold fond memories of this game, but it started to cater a bit too much towards new players and that ultimately led to old players leaving the game and ruining a lot of the game's longetivity.
By the end, I refused to enter the /played command 'cause I really really didn't want to know. Amazing achievement. I wasn't annoyed with the downtime so much as flabbergasted that they architected the thing in such a way that the servers were ever up.
Was happy the game ended after the Wrath of the Lich King expansion...
I played this for a couple months, it was very fun with friends. It’s crafted to be played endlessly though which I think hurts the overall quality of it
This game has a chokehold on me and I can't escape. No matter what Blizzard does, the nostalgia that flows through me when going through old zones, as well as seeing how far the design of the new zones has come makes me come back every expansion.
I played a lot of hours of WoW. The biggest problem for me is time. I don't have it now. It's an MMO, and has a huge grind to it. I've still got friends playing it. From what I understand, the peak was WotLK and Mists, so the game has trended backward. I miss it sometimes, but I would miss my wife and kids more I think.
I started playing World of Warcraft around 2008 and despite some breaks, I keep coming back. I have always found it enjoyable, and there’s such a wide variety of ways to play and things to do that I don’t get bored.
My wife and I come back to this game occasionally. But after a while. We get bored of the repetitive nature of the game. It's great for like a month or two. Then it's time to take a break again. If you haven't played WoW. You need to. Just to see what it's all about. I mean its free for the 20 levels and I think the vanilla version is straight up free. But it's a slow burn dungeon crawler with massive leveling you can do with millions of people. It's great and all. But I think the shine is of the apple at this point. We need something new.
Might catch some hate here, but meh... Really not impressed by this game. Too much time needs to be put into it to do much, as it is with any of these MMORPGs. And I really loathe that they went this way with the Warcraft series. I really enjoyed the earlier strategy games, and wish they still made games like them. But going this route really doesn't appeal to me that much with this series.
