They took two of arguably the best Tony Hawk games and brought them into current gen with sick graphics and the OG soundtrack list. Moves and locales match the original to a T, with some cool new online modes for multiplayer. It's not as convoluted with its move list like the Skate series, so you'll have a lot of fun popping tricks and riding around real life locations. Vicarious Visions really nailed this remake.
Did I buy a skateboard after I played this? Yes. Did I know how to use it? No
Did I pretend to ? Yes.
The way this game plays makes you feel like you can pick up the skateboard and go shred some.... thing that skateboarders shred.
I really like this game
I'll preface with this: I didn't play the original a lot. I didn't own it myself, but I played it with friends. After everyone was saying how amazing this remake was, I had to get it. I don't know if I've ever been worse at a game. And I'm good at games. This one never clicked with me. I understand that it's very well made and looks great, but I find it difficult to play without putting in hours and hours of practice. Yet I still try...to no success.
This game holds a very special place in my favorites list. The learning curve was steep and frustrating, but I managed to grind through it to the upper levels. I broke my favorite controllers (xbox project Scorpio) on this game replaying downhill jam hundreds of times to try to get the max score. Despite that, I still give it a 5. I would do it all over again.
The levels, the music, the dumb graphics on N64... it's perfection. Definitely was a Bucky Lasek main back in the day. This game is what sparked my interest in skating. I would custom order skateboards to have it identical to my board in the game. Good times. I think I still have that skateboard somewhere... but I dare not try to ride it today. I'm much too old and fat. I'll just stick to playing the game.
The hours spent on this game…. And no cheat code was ever used more for me than everlasting grinding. And the fact that the cartridges came in different colors?!?! Loved it and still own it!
Tony Hawk 2 made all the kids like punk rock. Fight me. I made out with so many boys based on their Tony Hawk 2 stats. I probably shouldn’t admit that in public.
