I came here to chew bubble gum and play video games, and I got some bubblegum right here. You are most likely to find Smash Brothers and Mario Kart here.
I can proudly say this is my favorite game in the series. The cel-shading was jarring at first, but I wouldn't have it any other way now. The story, the massive open world, and the characters just come together in the most perfect way. Add in the fun I had connecting the Game Boy Advance via link cable and throwing bombs in front of my buddy while he controlled Link, and that's just the cherry on top.
The best art style in all zelda games. If it wasn’t for link to the past I’d say this is the best Zelda game. The cartoon style of this Zelda game is so pleasant and doesn’t take away from the game at all. Explore the wide ocean on the king of red lions as you search for triforce pieces acquire the master sword and save your sister from the evil ganondorf. Learn to control the wind with your windwaker instrument to make traveling the ocean easier as well as other uses.
I know the art style took a hit at first but what a glow up. I know many people have this at the top of their all time greats in the Zelda series. The HD remake improved on many of the annoying aspects of the original release.
We need a Hyrule child to cross all oceans and any oceans...... solo .
Solo.
SO solo.
SOLO to the point where the Hyrule child sincerely believes their wooden red dragon boat is talking to them; because they've been at sea, so long.
The child must drink salt water. Drink ocean. Drink OCEAN.
Then you'll win.
This game reminds you that "loading screens" disguised as "sailing semi-aimlessly for 45+ minutes" are a GOOD thing to spend your time on. It's the best thing to do.
I have so much love for this game - but the inevitable Switch remake better have improved teleportation spots! 😅
I lost about 50% of my puberty-years to memories of that boat going nowhere.
By far my favorite Legend of Zelda game. The story gave (and still gives) me chills. The style is beautiful, sailing the ocean is great. And it gave us the koroks!
Classic that I played a ton as a kid, and one that I constantly go back to. In my opinion, the exploration in Wind Waker is second only to Breath of the Wild.
Back when the graphics revolution began, this game took a step back and gave us a cartoony Link that won our hearts.
One minute I’m farming pigs and the next I’m setting sail with pirates on a journey to save my sister wondering if perhaps I’ve have bitten more than I can chew only to find out my adventure has just begun.
There’s so much sea, islands, spelunking, and monsters to discover in this game that got me immersed in this submerged land of hyrule.
And the ending of the final battle… for me, this is perhaps the best ending a battle could have.
Many people loved Ocarina of Time and Twilight Princess, and they have their merits, but for me Windwaker is perhaps the best one next to Breath of the Wild (unless I dare say it’s better!).
The Wind Waker took my summer 2003, I have such an affinity for the cell-shaded design/Toon Link. Collecting the items, completing dungeons & exploring towns, sailing but everyone remembers how long it took to uncover every piece of Map ie feeding the FISH! >_> Mail-sorting on Dragon Roost Island. Cultural references might be found in Disney: Moana. They cover 2 orbs but Wind Waker had 4? Maui is Ganon & Moana is Link. XD
One of my favorite Zelda games, in fact it is by far the Zelda game I enjoy going back and playing over and over again! The only knock on the game is how slow moving the traveling is at first, but that is fixed once you beat a boss and can transport. The story is incredible and everything you want from a Zelda game!
May have the best graphics out of any Zelda but the newest. For real. I loved the style and the gameplay. Super fun, super different, and I need to do another play-through.
Most people prefer Twilight Princess to this game for it's more realistic graphics. However, I think this game and Minish Cap are the two most unique games of the Zelda series. The premise is what you expect for a Zelda game, but the atmosphere and art aesthetics is what separates it from other games in the franchise.
Like almost all LoZ games, this one is really fun to play. I was never a huge fan of toon link, but it was an interesting take on the classic hero. Biggest issue is the parts of the adventure where it feels like you're on open seas, with nothing going on, for way too long. The final boss battle is excellent.
Some of the best Zelda music from this game! Also just an overall great game. The cel shading was a great change of pace from other Zelda game's graphics and really makes this one stand out. Also toon link is just adorable. You chase those pigs, buddy.
