Oh boy. This one is controversial.
See, we judge videogames under different categories. I won't rate a game like mario for storytelling, but I will on mechanics. I won't rate a Last of Us part ii on innovation, but I will in story telliung. And I will admit. The story is hard. And thats a good thing. You need to be engaged with this story at all times. Things happen in such a way that get you to understand what character development is.
Painful but good
This is one of those games where understanding the lessons they are wanting to convey helps add understanding to the story and why things happen the way they did. Only docking a star because there were a few moments that just weren't for me, but other than that I thoroughly enjoyed how the game portrayed how dangerous a cycle of vengeance and violence can be for everyone involved
This was a continuation to the first game and I think they are like different chapters of the same book.
Following the actions in the first game you see that all the actions have consequences. I felt that it was kinda forced in moments and I died a LOT.
Abby is a good character and you really can't say that she is the antagonist. It tells her side of the story and you really understand her reasoning that you cannot argue with.
I really enjoyed the game play and I was connected and invested in the game from start to finish. While the story might not have been what a lot of people wanted, I was fine with how the games story went, I just think that if the order of events that cut scenes where shown to the player and the pacing were different and the order in which you play the 2 characters were swapped it would have done a better job making the player feel more connected to Abby.
This game is controversial to many. I for one, loved the twists and turns this story has. It is filled with trauma, grim tones, and asks the time old question, "How far do you do to enact your revenge". It is absolutely heart-wrenching and is still engraved in my mind three years later. Please be careful with binging this game, it is emotionally a lot at times, and spans for several hours.
The first games story was so good. The second was so disappointing. I felt Ellie was too wishy washy in her moods. I expected more from such a strong female character.
I am sure someone will not like this review but the story was to predictable, slow and boring. Just blah. The game looked amazing and it felt really good but I need something to hook me and this doesn't do it. I apologize if I have hurt your feelings.
Absolutely amazing game, went into it not expecting to like it. Didnt think it was possible to follow of the first one which was like nothing I ever played before. Glad i was surprised, love it. Now if Naughty Dog would just stop remastering the first one and give us something new.
I'll say it and don't @ me. It's perfect. They didn't just run the play back. No one was deceived. There was growth, there are morals and life lessons. The game is beautifully rendered and much like its predecessor a generational masterpiece. This isn't to tell you that you can't have your own opinions, but do have your own opinions. This game is worth it.
