The Binding of Isaac: Repentance
The Binding of Isaac: Repentance
The Binding of Isaac is the best roug-like game in my mind, and I will give it a five-star rating without hesitation.
(There are many religious and cultural backgrounds in Isaac. These legends and allusions are actually very interesting, and the related characters are also designed with great care. You must not miss it.)

The Binding of Isaac: Repentance
Rebirth/Afterbirth are 5 stars IMO, but Repentance....oof. Introduces new versions of all the older characters but good lord, some of them are a SLOG. If you've not bought any of the base games/DLCs, then yea, sure get this - but if you don't care about super mongo mega ultimate platinum gawd (completionist), just stick with BOI Rebirth.

[More technical reasons I gave it 3 stars: a lot of new visual effects, which aren't needed in this game - makes playing difficult for anyone with the mildest vision issues. The extra effects really take a toll on the Switch as well, so I'd prob say play this on PC or PS5 - avoid the Switch. It'll chug lol.]

The Binding of Isaac: Repentance
Steep learning curve. Not my style game but has a huge cult-like following. Lol. Expect higher reviews for folks into this style. I prefer Gungeon.

The Binding of Isaac: Repentance
Ever fallen into a basement and died trying to fight off spiders and Satan due to being chased by your religion-crazed mother who was recently divorced?
No?
Try Isaac then. You won't regret it.

The Binding of Isaac: Repentance
I have almost 2,000 hours logged in this game. It's dark, strange, and has an insane learning curve, but this roguelike is HIGHLY addicting. It's not for everyone, but it I absolutely one of, if not my all time favorites.
