This Mario game is down there the 64 as one of my least favorite of the franchise. While I did enjoy the new water cannon, I just didn't really get into the game as I have with many other Mario games. I think Nintendo did better with unique mechanics later on, as seen with Wonder.
Mario plus water cannon equals: GENIUS
It's where mario can "shine" the most. He jumps higher, is faster and overall has a lot of movement. The missions themselves are both easy and some schallenging. The only thing I don't like is the way to the final boss is super hard and nothing the game prepared yoy for
There is something about the story combined with the game play that just hits right.
The game stands alone and I appreciated it didn't revolve around Peach.
It was an okay game. Intro to Petey Pirhana and Bowser Jr.
But some of the story elements are a bit whack (Peach being Jr's mom? Or not?) and controls were a little frustrating at times
In terms of 3D Mario, this game forever changed the entire franchise. With Mario 64, we got different environments that offered all new challenges for players.
From this game forward, every Mario has had a DISTINCT vibe and visual language. Remembering playing this as a kid… I can still hear the music. I can almost feel the sun on my face.
It’s maybe the first Nintendo game where the fun isn’t only in the levels: it genuinely feels fun to walk around the in-between space too! Honestly, I remember the areas between levels more than the levels themselves.
Plus, it fully explores the game’s gimmick and is stunningly gorgeous.
Five stars. One of the most memorable Mario games of all time.
Just gonna say it: worst Mario game. The game teaches you how to do all these cool moves with fludd and then takes it away from you and forces you to complete impossibly difficult platforming sections. Could go up to 4 stars if you have masochistic tendencies.
I just could not get into this game. I can't put my finger on it but it just did appeal to me. I didn't get very far and maybe I'll give it a try again (probably not). I think it was just the water jet and using it for everything. Anyways in my expert opinion, worst Mario game to date.
This might be considered the Mario 2 of the 3D platformers, but I don't care. It's a damn fine game. It brought a fun new concept to the Mario world that we haven't seen since. The colourful worlds look even better on the Switch HD port. I believe it's as fresh and fun to play now as it was 20 years ago.
Mario's tropical vacation turns into a sunny spectacle of platforming. Cleaning up goop has never been so fun. Levels get more and more challenging, but boy oh boy, does it feel good when you succeed.
My least enjoyed Mario adventure. The FLUDD mechanics were interesting but this game just seemed overly difficult and suffered from odd Mario camera angles.
If this weren't Mario I'd probably rate this two stars. I just could not get into it, but I appreciate it for those who enjoyed it. The mechanics don't work for me. Easily my lowest rated Mario.
Most underrated Mario game ever. The different controls led to a lot of hate, but they were so much fun! FLUDD was a blast to use and it made it a unique experience!
