Although I prefer the second game, this one was still very charming. I hadn't played the X-Wing or TIE games prior to this, and it was a novel concept getting to control all these different starships in a 3d world. It's a bit rough to go back to these days but for the time it was released, it was pretty sweet.
You can fly an X-wing down the Death Star trench, do you really need more reason to play this game? You do? Well there are a lot of other missions that are fun and challenging to play, not to mention getting a gold medal in all of them. There is more than just an X-Wing to fly too. A really great Star Wars game that made you really feel like you were in that pilot seat
This game was amazing for it's day, but even back then the camera made the game tough to play. Controls were OKish, but the game play itself was such a blast!
I played this a ton when I was a kid but never made it very far. I think it deserves a next-gen remaster/reboot, what's better than flying star wars spacecraft around? Squadrons and Battlefront are too PvP heavy for my taste, this is what they need to get back to.
A great Star Wars and flight game that launched a fantastic series. Missions were fun and memorable, unlockables were solid. Would love a back-to-basics return of a Original Trilogy era game like this on the Switch.
If any Star Wars game deserves a re-release, it's this one. The flying mechanics were fun, the combat was fun, the cheat codes gave some awesome ships, I highly recommend this game to anyone who likes Star Wars, and flying games.
I spent a lot of time trying to accomplish a lot of challenges in this game. I think the best was doing the Death Star run. It did have some non-sense crash moments. Was still a bunch of fun to play regardless.
This was a game changer at the time. Factor 5 nailed the flight mechanics and scene setting of the Star Wars universe better than anyone had before. By today's standards, the game is a bit clunkier than its sequels. Rogue Leader on the GameCube is my personal favorite of the series. But this will not disappoint. And you get to use the ultra-unique N64 controller if you're playing the original version. Bonus!
