Really enjoyable experience. This game blew my mind when I was a kid because I'd yet to have played F-Zero or any of the similar high speed racing games. I especially enjoyed the version of this game that they had in arcades. They did make a sequel, but I didn't get to play it much.
Played the heck out of this game on the 64 when I was a kid. I remember it getting VERY hard at some point though. Controls are tight still and graphics are not horrible either for how old the game is. A definite must pick up for $3.49 on Steam right now (5-1-23). If you like racing and/or Star Wars get this.
I would imagine that this game is as close to what it's like to be involved in one of these races. Graphics are solid for the time period it happened, easy to pick up & hard to put down.
(fwiw: I have only done the time attack on the retrogames website. have no played the N64 or Switch version nor have I played the version dropping on xbox this week)
Had a lot of fun playing this as a young teen in the months following the release of Episode 1. The Switch remake doesn't quite grab me the same way, but that is pretty common for games of this era.
This game was a blast. I remember racing my cousin countless times in this one. I loved being able to race as the racers other than Sebulba and Anakin too. And being able to customize slightly.
The tracks had a dynamic element to them that was fun. The only knock I have is that more tracks would have been better. Though, for an N64 game, there was probably a lot.
This game kind of feels like a Star Wars version of F-Zero. It is a fun racing game that feels fast. I had it on my N64 as a kid but never beat it. I bought it on my Switch and fell in love with it all over again, and actually did beat it.
