The beginning of the indie pixel for me. Solid fighting game. And with a cool weapon. I really enjoyed this game. Cause it's not easy. It's a Meganman level of hard. I plan on diving into the sequels this year
A lot of fun and a great throwback to what made NES games so amazing. Basically, it’s Mega Man style level design with Castlevania/Ninja Gaiden style combat. At times though, there were some aspects of it that were frustrating and a little unfair. Nonetheless it’s well worth your time and kicked off a whole wave of great 2D indie games in the 2010s.
Shovel Knight is a true love letter to the past. With gameplay similar to Legend of Zelda 2, and platforming similar to Mega Man, this game is an absolute gem. It features 4 campaign modes, Shovel Knight, Spector Knight, Plague Knight, and King Knight, all 4 of which tie in together to give you multiple perspectives of the story. This game is a must play if you live platformers.
