Rock Band 2 is a 2008 music video game developed by Harmonix, published by MTV Games and distributed by Electronic Arts. It is the sequel to Rock Band and is the second title in the series. The game allows up to four players to simulate the performance of popular songs by playing with controllers modeled after musical instruments. Players can play the lead guitar, bass guitar, and drums parts to songs with "instrument controllers", as well as sing through a USB microphone. Players are scored on their ability to match scrolling musical "notes" while playing instruments, or by their ability to match the singer's pitch on vocals.

I think if you tried to be too cool for Rock Band (or Guitar Hero), you were lying to yourself. They were so innovative and fun that even people who never played video games got into them. Anytime I hear a song I first heard on Rock Band on the radio, it takes me back to jamming out with my plastic drums.

This game made me want to learn to play the drums. Then I actually did. I'm not kidding. The guitar action was okay. But the drumming was realistic enough to make you want to jam out for real.

My wife was the singer, my brother on bass, sister on guitar, and I was on drums. We were called Mother Tucker and played two contests at a casino outside of Philly and got some sweet prize money. So many great tracks and DLC. Love this series to this day.
