Pokémon X and Pokémon Y are 2013 role-playing video games developed by Game Freak, published by The Pokémon Company and Nintendo for the Nintendo 3DS. They are the first installments in the sixth generation of the main Pokémon video game series. First announced in January 2013 by former Nintendo president Satoru Iwata through a special Nintendo Direct, Pokémon X and Pokémon Y were released worldwide in October 2013, making them the first Nintendo-published retail games to have a simultaneous global release in all key regions.

Had a classic pokemon feel, added Mega Evolutions, and was just an enjoyable game. 4/5 would play again.

These are the Pokemon games that got me back into Pokemon. Gen 4 I found kind of boring, beat them once, never went back. Then gen 5, to this day, remains the only mainline Pokemon games that I have not beaten, and turned me off of the series. I then decided to give it another chance with X and Y, and fell right back in love with the series. They felt like gens 1 through 3 again, with the addition of the awesome Mega Evolutions.

Another very well done Pokémon game! While I still enjoy older Gens more, the visuals just keep getting better!

Pokémon X and Y

Pokémon at its finest. All the games in the series succeed at making me want to fill out the Pokédex. This one stands out since it’s new enough that it looks great and the modern amenities like online trading are well realized, but it’s also old enough that the game doesn’t hold your hand every step of the way. I also love the new Pokémon introduced this gen, and the cities were really well designed.
