Pokémon Legends Arceus
Pokémon Legends Arceus
A fun change of course from the main Pokemon series. I have not finished it yet, due to shiny things distracting me, but I really enjoyed it. The storyline was interesting, and the changes in poke battles and catching Pokemon was a lot of fun. I really want to get back to this game and finish it up. Probably the best Pokemon spinoff game.

Talk about a grand idea but poor execution.
Like, this game could have been the next big pokemon game. Like. This would have been the Breath of the wild for pokemon. But the never ending talking and somewhat dull world, it came so close and yet so far

Just really couldn't get into this one. It just seemed really empty and dull. I do appreciate the concept but I know they can do it better.

This game. WOW this game. Pokémon games have been a drag lately and arceus came in and shook the whole community up. The open world concept was awesome. Adding new ways to catch Pokémon. Competing tasks for Pokémon to complete the dex. Minding your business and having an angry parasect pull up on you. This game is extra special to me because it’s the first game i watched my wife beat all by herself. The excitement she got from catching her first shiny Pokémon MINUTES into the game(i wasn’t jealous or anything..). Knowing we are getting another one of these type of Pokémon games in the future is great. Best type of Pokémon game.

The story as well was very enjoyable. There was ALOT to do in terms of side quests and main quests. Many times i found myself just trying to catch a lot of Pokémon and forgot what i was doing. Alpha (giant) Pokémon was a cool added concept as well. Such a great game with postgame stuff to add even more to an already well developed game.

So ya know the Safari Zone in the first Pokemon games? Where you couldn't battle any Pokemon, you just had to chuck rocks or food are balls at them? Remember how that was a great idea in concept, not so much in practice, and you gave up before you found that Chansey or Tauros because you wasted all your safari balls on Tangelas?

Or was that just me?

If you share that experience, Legends Arceus is that idea executed perfectly. I've never been one to try and fill up my PokeDex, and its importance has diminished as the years have gone on. There wasn't much motivation to do so until they introduced the Shiny Charm, and even then there were methods of shiny hunting that were just as reliable without it. While this reward is still within LA, the other rewards and methods of hunting Pokemon are wildly satisfying in and of themselves, and you only have to battle when absolutely necessary.

While I've expressed the lack of need for a Pokemon game to have a story if the setting and exploration can pick up the slack, LA's story is genuinely pretty fascinating despite it starting as "what if you were isekai'd into colonial hokkaido". The exploration lends itself to this... but on that note, this is where I did have to dock it down a little.

While reaching new spots in a given area is an engaging goal, the flat open planes and clear pathways ending in clusters of Pokemon do get rather same-y after a while of shiny hunting or item grinding. While I understand why the ability to craft items was implemented, by the end I found the material grind so frustrating that I simply farmed certain battles for cash to buy the pokeballs and sticky globs I needed for my Dex-filling or shiny hunts.

And then there's Arceus itself.

Other Pokemon games have some difficulty spikes. I thought people were exaggerating when they cursed the Pokemon deity for its difficulty. While you have learned the Pokemon partner-less dodge-heavy battle mechanics through the game with the few in each newly unlocked area, nothing prepares you for the onslaught this creature throws your way. I struggled through the first phase of the fight only for each and every one of my fully trained multiple IV'd, Level 100 'mons to bite it thanks to Arceus's garbage unfair type-shifting mechanic. I've seen skilled, veteran players struggle with this fight for ages, and beating it is apparently REQUIRED to ACTUALLY complete the game's Dex. You can't even transfer your own Arceus from the Sinnoh remakes. It, evidently, does not count unless you've let God set you and your pets on fire until he lets you catch him in a ball made of fruit.

If you love Pokemon, play Legends Arceus. If you want to shiny hunt in Legends Arceus, just do the reset trick. Getting the namesake itself is not worth it.

Pokémon Legends Arceus
Amazing shakeup to the traditional Pokemon formula. I love the artistic direction of the game and seeing more interactive animations of all my favorite Sinnoh creatures. Favorite Pokemon game in a LONG time.

Pokémon Legends Arceus
Honestly the most fun and fresh that Pokémon has released in years! Has a lot of glaring issues that would have been fixed if given more time, but for modern Pokémon it's quite solid.

An amazing Pokémon game and I really enjoy it , BUT why is there so much ridiculously long dialogue I have to go through it’s wayyyy too much

Pokémon Legends Arceus
This is the closest thing that we have gotten to a perfect Pokemon game. The world was fun to explore, the story was great, catching Pokemon became more fun, it's just an all around great game.

Pokémon Legends Arceus
5 stars for mechanics and originality using a well-established franchise. Minus 1 star for making players read paragraphs and paragraphs of not very interesting, silly narrative...Still a really fun game!

Pokémon Legends Arceus
This game definitely brought something new to the table not yet seen in a mainline Pokémon game. And as such, this game is a prototype of what seems to be, after the introduction of Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, the direction Game Freak wants to take the Pokémon series in. I thought this game was very fun, with the unique catching mechanic. However, after registering every Pokémon into the Pokédex, I struggled to find any other reason to play the game other than shiny hunting. Very fun game, just wish there was more to do in the post-game.

Pokémon Legends Arceus
The new spin on catching and battling Pokémon is nice. However, the graphics leave a lot to be desired especially for a switch game. I hope they adapt the new battle format for future titles as it is a unique experience for a Pokémon game.

Ancient sinnoh! Hisuian forms are really good! Love the open world right feel to the game. Something new to the franchise. The mechanics for the game are game changing. The battles are awesome! Like you as the player can move around to see it from a different perspective. Alpha poekmon are superb

HAVE YOU PLAYED DARK SOULS? THIS IS THAT BUT POKEMON.

Pokémon Legends Arceus
Starter Pokémon suck… BUT, it’s one of the best mechanics of any Pokémon game ever made. Catching and battling Pokémon in an open world is the Pokémon game we’ve always wanted. It also had a pretty solid storyline and strays away from battling and focuses more on studying/catching Pokémon. A phenomenal Pokémon game for all fans, casual or hardcore

Pokémon Legends Arceus
As a young kid i played hundreds of hours of pokemon on the gameboy and for every one of those hours my imagination ran wild of being next to the pokemon and watching the battle play out. This game comes so close to satisfying my imagination that childhood me could cry. It might not look the prettiest or run the smoothest but the pokemon themselves have never looked better. The combat is quick and fun and the story is surprisingly dark (for pokemon) and one of the toughest battles in any pokemon game ever. Ultimately an imperfect but fun step into the future of pokemon.

This is one of those games I was REALLY into for like a week. I don't know why I don't play it more often, it really is a fun one. What Pokemon fan isn't gonna love an open world setting?

Pokémon Legends Arceus
Love the idea of open world Pokémon and this game delivers! My one knock is I’m old school when it comes Pokémon games. I like the battling and catching components of the original games.
