The PlayStation Portable (PSP) is a handheld game console developed and marketed by Sony Computer Entertainment. It was first released in Japan on December 12, 2004, in North America on March 24, 2005, and in PAL regions on September 1, 2005, and is the first handheld installment in the PlayStation line of consoles. As a seventh generation console, the PSP competed with the Nintendo DS.

Look, you want to make a portable system, be my guest. But you better deliver a good library.
I dont care how much you say it was innovative or perfect in every single way, if you want me to buy you, you need the games to support it

I remember getting this and being blown away. Having God of War, Killzone, and my personal favorite PSP game Lumines, with me wherever I went on the go was awesome. The God of War PSP games are just as good as the PS2 and PS3 games if people are unaware. Such an excellent little handheld that should have lasted longer.

The PSP was a fun, portable concept that brought console-quality gaming to your pocket, despite its quirky UMD discs.

PSP was a roughy handheld, but more entry level for the market for Sony. The redeeming factor of this console is the ability to hack it into a game boy emulator… but since that was not Sony’s intention, this console gets 3 stars.

My brother had one. I couldn’t tell you a single game I played on it, so it must have not been that great

It was decent for the time it was released. Sony should’ve tried to make this happen a little better.

It was portable, had a built in rechargeable battery, and the games were sharp for a portable system.

My biggest drawback with it was that they tried to implement a joystick style control, and it didn't feel like it worked well to me. It was novel, but didn't shake out for my liking.

This thing came travelling around the world with me. Was great for games of course but I also had a bunch of movies and tv shows which made it even more amazing!

I remember saving for this system as a kid. I was so pumped to get it and Dynasty Warriors. Sadly this console never really took off like I expected it to do.

I loved my PSP! My first big purchase off Ebay! I used it as my game player and MP3 player!

Sometimes I think this system was ahead of it's time when I compare the Switch feature of handheld & docking but also lacked cloud gaming. When I think about it, this was just PlayStation's version of the GameBoy which was plenty of fun, took my PSP with me to play games between classes in college, but having to buy a game for console then another copy for the PSP was expensive over time. At it's current time though, definitely was a lot of fun to have!

If the PSP had been released later, I think it would've done better. The system was just a little ahead of it's time.
