"My brother owned this, but I was still exclusively interested in Nintendo at the time.
But looking back, I can see the seeds being planted of what would eventually convince me to become such a big fan of PlayStation.
I did enjoy Tony Hawks and eventually Kingdom Hearts."
"This console got lots of playtime in the barracks. Played lots of SOCOM, Madden, Conflict Desert Storm, and GTA (last time I played GTA). Had one in Iraq too but didn't really play much on it."
"One of my favorite systems of all time. This was the first console I bought for myself when I was an adult. I remember playing Mortal Kombat online with the extra online adapter. Revolutionary at the time! Really hope Sony starts releasing more games on PSPremium because this library of games is so good. "
"Just absolutely phenomenal and I played some of the best RPG games ever on it. Kingdom hearts, FF10. Also played my first ever online game for console with the network adapter. Just a great console that paved way to what we have today "
"The thing worked. Had some pretty good exclusive games. Was backward compatible for most games if I remember correctly.
It still only had two controllers natively. You could by a separate adapter, but that didn't feel great. It also didn't have a bunch of games that played 4 people because of this. "
"The leap from the PS1 to this was insane. I remember just being blown away by the capabilities. And then spending years mashing the buttons on Tekken so Eddy Gordo was unstoppable. "
"Honestly this was the last non-Nintendo console I owned (I PC game too). As a huge RPG fan this was the system to own - you couldn't get mainline Final Fantasy, Dragon Quest, and other great series anywhere else. But I loved everything from Metal Gear Solid 2 to Tony Hawk to Shadow of the Colossus. The capability to play DVD's was icing on the cake. Somewhere at my parents house I have that 8MB "beast" of a memory card with so many cherished hours of gameplay saved."
"Remember when PS Network was free? Those were wild times. It made online gaming absolutely amazing for all. I was in love with NCAA Football 03 and SOCOM. I was destined for the NAVY until my console got stolen and I never bought a traditional console since. The graphics were great, the latency wasn't noticeable, and the game selection was enormous. Play Station hit the goldmine."
"Just another great console. The analog controls standard really made this a great console out of the box. With tough competition from both Nintendo and Microsoft, Sony was still was able to make this one of the best selling consoles of all time. "
"After watching my friends with envy as they upgraded their systems to the N64, Xbox, and PS1, the PS2 was a major, mind-blowing jump for me from the SNES. In terms of power, graphical fidelity, game library, and portability, the PS2 was an amazing machine for the time. "
"The PS2 was my favorite system growing up. There were so many great games on this system. Nearly every genre of gaming had amazing options to play. Gran Turismo, Final Fantasy, Tony Hawk, GTA, God of War, Guitar Hero, Soul Caliber. Anything you wanted you had with this system. I spent many nights playing Need for Speed Underground, online with my friend on his PC. Back when cross play was very new, but fun. I can hear Lil' Jon now."
"I thought I loved the PlayStation. Then the PlayStation 2 came out. It was sleek, futuristic looking, the starting screen/noises. I played this system so much that I had trouble letting go to get a PS3. I don't recall if the analog sticks came out during the PlayStation's run but having the feature on the PS2 was so dope to me, and I definitely abused the sticks playing NCAA football or racing. I also believe this was my introduction to online gaming as I remember getting the port hook up to the back of the system to play Madden & SOCOM online. "
"This was another system that was only available for me to play by going to a friends house. We played many games of NFL Blitz on this system. Always a good time!"
