Enjoy.

Pitfall is not the worst Atari game by any means, but it's nowhere near the best either. The biggest problem is that it's just so dang difficult! I took the left path and holes kept opening up and killing me. I took the right path and at least I made it through a few screens going that way.
I had the NES version of this game as a kid and it's likewise as confusing and difficult.
But props for being unique and not just another in a long line of shooters.
If my dwindling memory serves me correct...this is the first game I ever played, or at least remember playing. The "swinging from the vine" sound is permanently burned into my brain, and that's a good thing. It's fun. Besides Spider-Man, this was my most played Atari 2600 game as a kid. Never beat it. Nobody did. Ever.
Fun sidescrolling adventure game. Gotta love the 8-bit Tarzan yell when swinging on the ropes. The shrinking/growing holes were a pain in the butt, but the alligators were the bane of my existence. If you didn't position perfectly on their heads while jumping across, you'd get munched once they opened their mouths.
