Pilotwings is a video game developed and published by Nintendo for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System. The game was originally released in Japan in December 1990, shortly after the launch of the Super Famicom in the country. It was also released as a launch title for the SNES in August 1991 in North America, with a European release following in 1992.

Maybe nostalgia is getting in the way of objectivity, but this game was hard as hell and so rewarding when landing on those bonus landing pads. It's good, trust me.

Lots of fun playing as a kid. The trainers could be total ass hats sometimes and it would frustrate the hell out of me.

My favorite part of this game is if you managed to complete all the trainings with acceptable scores, you were put into a combat mode with a helicopter... but none of the game's training up to that point had anything to do with a helicopter. Silly game.

Clunky, square-peg-in-a-round-hole kind of feeling, but that didn't stop me from trying to land that gosh dang plane without blowing up over and over again.

Mode 7 at its best in early stages of the SNES. You play a pilot in training and you have to go through all these courses to get your license. There are a few courses on this game - light plane flight, sky diving, rocket belt and hang gliding. And a special stage with a attack helicopter. Being able to play these levels with increasing difficulty as you move forward makes for a super challenging game. Very easy to play. Very hard to master. You can grab this game on the wii and snes. It might have been on the mini but I cant remember.

I had cracked this one again when the SNES classic dropped. I remember the graphics blowing my mind as a kid seeing everything happening. The controls can be imperfect but this game accomplished what it set out to do bringing airports into gaming to this degree in one game.
