“The very existence of flamethrowers proves that sometime, somewhere, someone said to themselves, 'You know, I want to set those people over there on fire, but I’m just not close enough to get the job done.” - George Carlin
This game was a surprise hit for me. I’ve always liked the Pikmin games, so I knew I was going to get this. It went above and beyond expectations. The amount of content alone makes it worth the price. But the gameplay was solid, the story was fun, the new Pikmin types were well designed. Great game, if you’re a fan of the series, go get it. If you’ve never played this series, go get it. Dandori is life.
I have always been a fan of the Pikmin series. Every game has been just wonderful to play. They hit it out of the park with this one. It has a nice mix of easy and hard levels. The Dandori battles are a blast, but I think the best part about this beautiful game is after the credits roll. Find out for yourself!
It’s a nice relaxing and chill puzzle game to play on your own. It is so fun and it’s not as easy as the cover and title might make it seem. Plus the story is also really good and is just a fun game in general. Plus it’s one of the better one in the series in my opinion.
Pikmin 4 is a great game and I suggest people buy it if they are looking for a great single-player game to play. It's a very warm and cozy game where you can just relax, do puzzles, and explore the various worlds that this game has to offer. The addition of Oatchi and the Rescue Corps to the Pikmin series adds a great storyline to the game as well! There is so much content to this game it took me about 30+ hrs. to complete on my first playthrough.
I have played some pikmin games before but they are not very good but when I saw this one and I was like wow this looks very cool and I persuade my dad into getting it as my post said and then I played it and I was like oh this is cool, so yeah.
So my 5yo son and I just spent the last couple hours diving into this game having never played a Pikmin game before. It's an interesting concept and seems like it'll be fun and challenging as it progresses. It's intuitive and easy to pick up, controls are simple. My favorite part is that my son is just learning to read, so it's been amazing watching him play. "Daddy, I need 10 Pikmin for this one" "good job buddy, let's cout em together..." What a cool experience. Highly recommend if you've got younger kids, and I look forward to playing on my own too!
July 2023 - owned digitally, about 45 hours to nearly 100% minus some extreme challenges where I "only" got gold instead of platinum
This game hides all of its difficulty in a long post game, defined as "after the credits roll." And there is a huge portion of the game left there (I'd estimate like 40%). During that post game you can unlock abilities that... You won't really need because you're already done. Between this and what I felt was a downgrade from 3 equivalent commanders, I have to deduct points, though it is still a fabulous game and worthy entry into the series.
Miyamoto has had many successes and franchises through the years. The man gave us Mario, Zelda, so much. His baby for the last 20 years has strangely been Pikmin. I say "strangely" because up until 3 was released on the Switch I had no interest. I was in my hipster phase when the PS2 and GameCube were battling it out and thought it was ridiculous. But here was Miyamoto toiling away, proud of the capacity to have 99 little plants following you around and doing your bidding independently (rightly proud). Anyway, I jumped into the 3 release on the Switch and loved it. Played it through three times and 100%ed it. Real time strategy to the next level.
Enough yapping. Iterate and improve. That's what they did with every aspect of this game. The levels look gorgeous, forget the Switch 2, they're not done here yet. The variety of environments. The Dandori challenges are a fantastic addition and I look forward to dueling people here on C3. Dandori is life. Dandori is everything. If you haven't played a Pikmin before this is a great jumping point.
