Three stars because of the glitches that kept having months after release. I know in today's age it takes more to create a game and bugs are expected but my batter shouldn't be running straight for second after a hit months after release. Besides they killer bugs its a good baseball game.
I generally do not like sports games, and as much as I like baseball in real life I feel like it usually translates into a video game pretty badly, so the quality of this game and the fun I’ve had playing it truly come as a surprise. I do wish certain things were more intuitive, though, especially stealing bases and a lot of things related to base running in general. Nonetheless, probably the first sports game I’ve really enjoyed since like Tecmo Bowl.
This is my second year of running MLB the show since it has launched for the XBOX. I played it back on PS2 days and it is downright the best baseball game on modern consoles. There is something for everyone from collecting players to play online in Diamond Dynasty, to playing solo in Diamond Dynasty with your super team, to the Road to the Show player career mode where you start in the minors, to finally the Franchise or Road to October (short season). My only negative is that the ranked play is pretty tough unless you are good.
I love this series and this year is no disappointment. I'm down a Diamond Dynasty rabbit hole. The level of detail is astounding and the many options for skill level, difficulty, and engagement are mind-blowing. My unhealthy love of baseball is grateful that this exists.
