Microsoft Minesweeper (formerly just Minesweeper, and also known as Flower Field) is a minesweeper-type video game created by Curt Johnson, originally for IBM's OS/2, that was ported to Microsoft Windows by Robert Donner, both Microsoft employees at the time. First officially released as part of the Microsoft Entertainment Pack 1 in 1990, it was first included in the standard install of Windows 3.1 in 1992, replacing Reversi from Windows 3.0. Microsoft Minesweeper was included without major changes in all subsequent Windows releases until Windows Vista, at which time an updated version by Oberon Media replaced it. In Windows 8 and later the game is not included with a fresh Windows install, but Microsoft Studios has published an updated version of it, developed by Arkadium, on Microsoft Store

I played a lot more of this in July 2024 grinding for a weekly quest and it made me reevaluate my rating and bump it down to 2 stars. The RNG factor here is just too high for a puzzle game. At least half of my attempts, probably closer to 70%, died when I had to guess between a 50/50 or some other horrible combination that just cannot be solved. That just doesn't sit right with me -- the concept here is pretty good and the gameplay is satisfying enough, until your 5 minutes is just HAHAHA COIN FLIP YOU LOSE. Your nostalgia may elevate this for you, but try grinding expert plays for a few hours and see what you think then.

I remember I spent a straight hour just staring at the screen as a kid, trying to figure out what each number meant.... Then it finally clicked. No longer was I just blindly clicking boxes, instead I was strategizing, and it's from that moment, I fell in love with Minesweeper. A classic game, that is lot's of fun once you figure out how to play.

Great puzzle game once I figured out how to play, never saw any instructions saw a friend one day and asked. I've always seen that in pc.. how does it work? 🤣 have it on my phone now and is a quick way to pass the time.

In the 90’s a terrorist organization known as the Groganhosen is planting bombs throughout the streets and buildings in cities across the US. You are agent Slater… an expert bomb analyst with a Bachelor’s in badassery and a Masters in Bomb Diffusion. Your job is to sweep through civilian filled cities looking for the planted bombs as people give you clues of what they heard the Groganhosen gang say. Are there 2 bombs nearby? 3? 5?! Who knows… every step you take is one step away from your city going boom… wanna click on that, buddy? Your funeral…

With state of the art graphics from Windows 95 and a precise control system which relies on analog movement and clicking.
