Man, talk about a great buildup to a sad ending. I dont hate this game, I hate the fact that the ending happened. I come back every once in a while and play through some areas and the core gameplay is so fun and inventive. And the story is good, until it isn't. And unlike other games where the gameplay is fun but the story is meh, this one keeps buring that hole in your head of why?
I'd give this one 5 stars for the multiplayer alone. I know a lot of folks didn't like that playing the multiplayer boosted your galactic readiness score or whatever it was called but it was so stinking fun. Even a bit scary on the higher difficulties. The single player as usual was phenomenal. You had three games to get attached to all these characters and it really hit you when you'd lose anyone. The DLCs were wonderful as well.
Nothing can ever live up to 2 for me. I really enjoyed it, I get it. The plot lines tying up for one and two are great, but the ending itself still leaves me flabbergasted, especially with a follow up game that I couldn't get more than an hour into. In retrospect this game is hurt by its bookends, and I probably shouldn't hold that against a well written game that has a lot of branches through the main game.
