Kingdom Hearts is a 2002 action role-playing video game developed by Square for the PlayStation 2 video game console. It is the first game in the Kingdom Hearts series and is the result of a collaboration between Square and The Walt Disney Company. An expanded re-release of the game featuring new and additional content, Kingdom Hearts Final Mix, was released exclusively in Japan in December 2002. The Final Mix version of the game was later remastered in high definition and released globally as a part of the Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 Remix collection for the PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Microsoft Windows, and Nintendo Switch.

I hate to admit it, but when this game first came out I didn’t want to play it. The thought of combining Disney and Final Fantasy just sounded like a crime to me. Well, my wife and other friends swore by it and so I played it for the first time on PS4 a few years ago, and, well, I was wrong. And I am happy to be wrong. This game’s story, music, and battle system was amazing in every way. Definitely going to play it with the kids again when they get older

I just love everything about this game. Mix Disney and Final Fantasy, a story about darkness and light, and the best game soundtrack around, and you get one of the best games of my lifetime. I tear up every time I hear the opening title song.

I still don’t know anything about Final Fantasy but this game is super nostalgic. Probably one of the first titles I played when making the jump from SNES to PS2.
