"So, this isn't about me, but, my dad's best friend (to use a very Texas word) was podunk, which is a step beyond country. Well. He processed deer, hogs and turkey (and, since I am not naming names, otherwise animals potentially not above board either because of species or how it was procured) every fall. So...now that I have begun to understand what he was doing, I have mad respect. Every Thanksgiving he smoked 72 turkeys and a couple hundred pounds of sausage and jerky on a pit that he made himself. Smoke box on the side and then cut and welded about what had to be 12 50-gallon drums, created a spindle and had three basically tractor wheels ran be a small engine to keep it constantly rotating. EVERY YEAR. And you had to be one of the first 72 people to get one of those turkeys. He had 24 turkeys on each level and wound sausage and jerky in between. He, my dad and a couple of other friends manned this thing 24/7 to maintain proper heat, and keep processing animals. A lot of fond memories, and glad that my dad chose my middle name after the dude because he is a good person."
