"Honestly Europe pretty much went as expected. Karmine Corp vs Vitality finals, and KC starts another season hot. I expect vitality to figure things out and win several opens this year, and at least one of the LANs NA was honestly more exciting to watch, and NRG struggling with some matches they should win was pretty surprising, especially in Swiss before top 16. GenG had an unlucky bracket because of NRG's Swiss imo, but I feel like they can bounce back"

Can't wait until April to get more details Gonna need to watch the trailer a little closer to analyze that kart "gameplay" better, but from what I saw, the graphics look really good. Wish the game had a bit more color, but that might've just been the one track. I know the Switch 1 had a semi-realistic look to a lot of its games, so I wonder if Nintendo is going to pull a complete 180 and go full cartoon but make it look super shaded and pretty. Being on Channel 3 really amplifies some of those for me, as it gives me a platform to socialize and play with others that have similar interest in games. The creative part especially. For those that don't really know me, I somewhat consider myself to be a software engineer by trade, even though I'm actively studying to get my Masters degree. Retro remakes (a lot ported from Tour that were missed in the BCP, but some brand new models), Arcade DX tracks, and even brand new custom tracks. I've mostly been prioritizing downloading tracks that were on @mario-kart-wii and @mario-kart-64 , but I'm open to basically anything! If this is something you'd be interested in seeing, I highly recommend taking a brief skim through the mod page and picking a track or two out"

"Gaming this year was all about community and playing together. Didn't do a whole lot of single player gaming, and when I did, it was most likely for a quest! Of course, my biggest game of this year was @mario-kart-8 . But this year it was much more than just playing online with a bunch of goofballs. Having the chance to have TWO relatively impromptu trips to visit and meet a bunch of you is absolutely crazy, and I'm excited for the chance to do it again next year (even though it will be way better planned, at least for me). I'm hoping that next year I can expand upon that community theme, but with a little more variety if I can handle it. Turns out that helping run @cups-league , participating in @mkr , AND doing all the weekly Wednesday night antics is a lot of gaming every week, especially for a graduate student. There were a few seasons and events I wished I would've participated in but was scared that it would take too much focus away from school. But there's always adjustments to be made. Gaming in 2024 was probably the most memorable year of my life up to this point, and I'm hoping that 2025 can come close to meeting that!"

"I honestly couldn't tell you who Wayforward was before this season. I'm pretty sheltered when it comes to games, especially since I've been playing mostly Nintendo games my whole life. I was somewhat familiar with Shantae prior to this season, but that was mostly in passing around the time when @super-smash-bros-ultimate leaks were at an all time high. I never really learned anything about the games in particular, but as a Mario fanatic, I'd be interested in trying a different platformer. I like the quests and stuff related to the sponsorship so far. The quests have been super quick to complete and pretty easily fit within the regular flow of the daily games and activity on the site. The @yars-rising streams by @rey have been fun to watch with what I've been able to catch too. I'm not sure if it's a game I'd want to pick up myself, but it's been cool to watch. It's also cool that Wayforward has given game codes out to redeem for tickets. I've been saving my tickets, so I haven't taken the opportunity to nab one yet. Awesome opportunity for someone that is interested though."

Events can now be tagged now as releases, esports, shows/conventions, etc. to bring awareness to major gaming things outside of Channel 3. And that's not even mentioning seasons! I feel like filtering (especially for seasons) would be helpful to quickly find events whether it be by type, game, or date. Maybe also an option to filter by events you have/haven't RSVP'd for? Also for these new types of events, especially for esports LANs and have a livestream to watch, a general "Notify me" button instead of the regular Yes, Maybe, No RSVP buttons. I think that would clarify any questions of "Does clicking Yes to an RSVP mean I'm attending in person, or does that mean I'm interested in watching the stream?" There's probably ways that this idea could work with regular events as well, but would really work best for some of the special types"

"There's a couple of different options for me because I don't really play MMORPGs. First is Minecraft. There's several servers out there that have entire games built that play out like an MMORPG, and some of them are actually pretty cool even though I haven't played recently. Second would be Pokemon. I used to play a fan made game called PokeMMO that turned @pokemon-firered-and-leafgreen into an MMO that was pretty cool. I think they wanted to add other regions and stuff too, but I'm not 100% sure where that is now or if it even still exists. Also wanted to mention Pokemon because the newer open world map would be pretty fitting for an MMO, even if the players go through the storylines independently of each other like you can in @pokemon-scarlet-and-violet "

Steve is able to carry hundreds of thousands of pounds effortlessly knowing that each block is one cubic meter, and some blocks are even more than that. That's not even counting using items like shulker boxes to store more items in. Steve can carry 30+ items of furniture in his inventory and hide them away like it's nothing, so you can even drive him to wherever you're moving! "While it was really hard for me to really remember what all happened in S8 (the end of S7 got blurred with it in my mind), it was also pretty hard just to pick one favorite thing because a lot of things are significant enough to be mentioned. I'll just drop a few: - Cups League. Not only getting the chance to host the finals for the second season but also spend the past 6-8 weeks refining and improving upon ideas I had for streams has led to a lot of growth for me. Not to mention racing every week in that top tier was absolutely chaotic and a blast. Here's to an even more fun and successful Cups playoff starting next week! - Even though I lost, the @super-mario-bros-wonder TT going head to head with @rey . That level pushed me to my limits further than the W1 level did, and I'm super impressed with how quickly we both knocked each others times down. - Final thing, the TDG trip to Chicago. I was unsure of going in the beginning since I was never part of the planning, but after a lot of convincing (and jokes), I finally just decided to drive up there Saturday morning and spend the rest of the weekend up there. Glad I was able to make the drive, and the videos that @blockmamba have been posting don't even tell the full story of how fun that trip was. (Also little IRL honorable mention is graduating from college, especially since I just got my diploma in the mail yesterday!!)"

"Not so much an actual redemption, but more of a technical idea. If this isn't in S9, I'd like to use it as a suggestion for the future! My idea is to have the ability to have a certain item be purchased multiple times with possibly a cooldown and/or a price increase per redemption. Maybe a hard limit on redemptions per person could be helpful as well. Seems like a lot of people want MORE XP GIFTS, and the past few seasons the prize counter has been full of XP gifts that quickly sell out because of the low price point and lower stock as to not flood the market. I'm hoping this idea could help more XP gifts become available for people to buy and still not allow people to buy tons and tons of gifts. For example, let's say there's a 1,000 XP gift that has unlimited stock and starts at a cost of 1 ticket. When someone redeems it, there could be a 12-24 hour limit on purchasing another one for that person, and the price of the next XP gift would increase for them as well. After a few purchases, the price of an XP gift could be anywhere between 7-10 tickets which becomes a much pricier redeem and could sway people towards not using their tickets on XP gifts. In turn, you could also put a limit of 3-5 gifts redeemed per person with a smaller price increase."

Quickly figured out this was one of those games that was a lot better with friends, and, even then, the party queue didn't even guarantee us to be on the same team every time in turf wars. I still thought it was a great game, just something that would've been a million times better if Nintendo had made the multiplayer experience better. "Honestly, I really like @stygian 's answer to this quest a lot. And I for sure let him know that. TLDR, the rest of EU is catching up for sure, but the French are for sure still better. Only thing that I really could add to his response is that of any of the players to know how that KC team is going to play and how to counter it, it's going to be Oski and Joyo. Sure, they took down KC once, but it's really a matter of if (or when) they're able to do it again in a playoff bracket. If OXG hadn't upset KC this past weekend, I think KC would have beaten Gentle Mates and probably even won the whole qualifier. As for BDS, I honestly have no idea what happened there. Had a really slow start to the series and took 'em four games to really get going. Sure BDS will start slow at times, but it almost never takes them a reverse sweep attempt to settle in. Almost locked in the reverse sweep, but I think pressure got to them and Resolve just capitalized on it."

"Not really the biggest shocker, but one that came to mind was how a lot of the successful games on the Switch are either direct ports of or sequels to games on the Wii U. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is obviously the big one here, but we also got Super Mario Maker 2, BOTW as a side-by-side release, Pokken Tournament DX, Splatoon 2 (and 3), and so many more games that have pretty much all been super successful. I honestly thought that Nintendo was going to stray away from the Wii U given how poorly the console performed compared to their others, but the Switch really just elevated how great some games on the Wii U are."

"I used to really only stream because I had the means to and I was playing games (so why not, right?) Got to affiliate off of a few other streamers’ communities and I was proud of myself. As I found myself here and getting involved with events here (especially Mario Kart), I realized a lot of people were streaming their POVs as a way for score keeping, getting clips, and so much more. I also see it as a way for people to still watch an event without having to participate. "We're definitely getting some updates on the mobile games and spinoffs. I know rumors are suspecting a Let's Go game for Sinnoh as well, but I feel like that would be paired with some kind of big update for @pokemon-go . Maybe some updates on the animated series as well? Biggest thing I would really want out of this is a Black/White remake. If we are getting one, it might be done by the same team that did BD/SP. I think a Let's Go game for Sinnoh is most likely, though. The only thing I'm really hoping AGAINST is generation 10. If it's announced now, it's releasing by the end of the year. If TPC tries to juice out one more mediocre-quality mainline game on the Switch, I'm kinda scared of what their standards are for game releases, especially since Scarlet/Violet just recently finished the DLC. "Although Minecraft is still decently popular (not so much on here, but in general), I feel like a lot of the past updates really get overhyped by the community just to get thrown by the wayside or really just never felt like "Minecraft" to me. Two features in particular are archaeology and the Piglins. Archaeology had been hyped for YEARS to finally be put in the game, and while it was one of the big focuses of the most recent update, I feel like there was more excitement for Cherry Groves, especially since they are much easier to find than the archaeology items. As for Piglins, I think I'm a little bittersweet since they replaced the zombie pigmen, which meant taking out one of the original mobs whose texture was based on the player model. A lot of the newer mobs in Minecraft have much more detailed models and animations which really takes away from the older versions of the game I remember playing when I first started."

"I think the thing that surprised me the most this past weekend was OG going 0-3 in swiss. They're definitely a team that can push for that top 8 playoff bracket in my eyes, but I think them losing to TSM in the day 3 double elim really screwed them over into getting a lower seed and facing Gen G round 1. Ultimately just beat themselves in Swiss. Also the rookies this time around looking really good. Pirates on a Boat, YWS and Snowmen all placing higher than last is great depth for NA. I don't think any of those 3 teams will be major contenders, but still upsetting some big names early on means that nobody is safe. Let's see if those teams can keep that momentum rolling for Qualifier 2!"

North America has NYC, LA, and Vancouver. Maybe add a city from Mexico? You’d get at least one track from each NA country then. Asia has Tokyo, Bangkok, and Singapore. Not sure what I would pick here, but there’s a lot of big cities with varying visuals and cultures, so there’s no doubt a lot of places to go. After reading some of the responses though, a South or Central American city would add a little more variety to the Tour tracks that I think would add nicely. Play more (and new to me) games and franchises. Got the Ori games from the Steam sale, so I am highly considering starting playing @ori-and-the-blind-forest after I finish SMRPG. 3. I set myself up nicely for this by purchasing the Ori games on Steam, and I was able to figure out how to mod Lethal Company (which I've been having a lot of fun with the few times I've played it). Thunderstore Mod Launcher allows you to mod a lot of different games, some of which I own and enjoy playing a lot. I would like to try to push my limits on streaming as well (within reason of course). I really enjoyed getting back into streaming the past few months, and I would like to continue it so I can build a more consistent routine and schedule surrouding it. By expanding my game library and trying out new things in different games, I should have a lot of great ideas for streams and potentially other short-form content that could come out of it"

The first 3 tracks in a way can somewhat relate to 3/4 zones in the BotW map: desert (Bone-Dry Dunes), air (Cloudtop Cruise), fire/volcano (Bowser's Castle). Plus Bowser's Castle is a pretty badass looking track and Ganon takes over the Hyrule castle. Couldn't tell you what the third one is though. Maybe something that's not a DLC cup? I feel like every series/game franchise I played growing up had some very popular mainstay characters except for Sonic. "I remember hearing chatter of people wanting a new game a few months before the DLC was announced. Everyone had played the "original" 48 tracks to their hearts content and wanted something new. But I feel like the DLC was the perfect way to extend the lifetime of Mario Kart on the Switch without dividing people across two games. I was always an advocate for more tracks instead of a new game too, so I was super excited with the initial announcement; especially given the scale of adding 48 tracks in 2 years or so. The DLC definitely just set this game as one of, if not, the best Mario Kart game in series history and gave it another couple of years of life until we inevitably get the next console. While the final roster of courses added to the DLC isn't perfect (even though any selection won't make everyone happy), it includes a lot of great tracks and fan favorites from across the franchise. Bringing over the Tour tracks too was a nice refresh, even though many of those tracks don't play as smoothly as the rest. Adding new and returning characters also spiced up the roster which probably resulted in people switching up their favorite characters to play. TLDR: DLC great, new game on Switch would be bad, 10/10 would recommend buying"

"I tend to usually go with the water starter in any game I play, and I like the simplicity of the challenges and design of many water type gyms. As for what Pokemon I would pick... that's a much harder question. I would probably be slightly past the middle of the game (like gym leader 5 or 6) but still use some battle gimmicks to make it a little more challenging than face value: 1. Quagsire 2. Azumarill 3. Gyarados 4. Kingdra Didn't put a whole lot of thought into the order particularly, but there's a decent amount of type coverage and stat change potential on both sides."

"I honestly am not sure if I’m quite old enough to really consider most changes “memorable” since a lot of the things people already mentioned were the norm once I seriously started to play video games. But if I had to pick one “game changer” for me growing up as a kid would have to be the Wii/motion controls. The Wii’s success really cemented Nintendo as a competitor in the console-space (even if they were already), AND motion controls have been part of basically every Nintendo controller since then. The impact this console has on my generation in particular is so strong that I hear a lot of college kids who aren’t super up-to-date with Nintendo still call Mario Kart Wii, “the original.” It might’ve had a quirky controller, but you can’t deny that the Wii was a huge success"

The controller itself is still relevant to this day because of Super Smash Bros., and the console had a lot of great games that have impacted Nintendo's future: Metroid, Animal Crossing, Super Mario Sunshine... the list goes on and on. I think my favorite aspect of the GameCube era that has made it to the Switch is the double item boxes from Mario Kart Double Dash making it into Mario Kart 8 Deluxe! Definitely not a failure since it's still fairly relevant today!"

"Debatably the worst Super Smash Bros. game in the series, but I think it's my favorite purely because of nostalgia. This game got me into the series and introduced me to so many different characters that I had never heard before. I always had a blast staying up late at nights playing this game at sleepovers with friends wondering what kind of unfair creations we could make in the stage builder or bizarre rulesets with items and handicaps. I also think this game led to the most exciting character announcements for Ultimate. Also this might be a hot take, but the story of Subspace is better than the story of World of Light"
