Probably one of more disappointing halo games I’ve played. I’m sure it got better after its release but it was so bad at release i can’t go back. There was a lot of hype on this game and it flopped hard. 343 just was very lazy with making this game
maybe its nostalgia, but coming back to this series for the first time since Halo 2 I am enjoying the online. Now I never turn my nose up at trying a FTP title, so I haven't touched the campaign. Overall, every match I have played win or lose I am have fun. I would compete in more tournaments on Channel3 when they come up.
I was never a hardcore Halo player but I did dabble into the franchise in the past. This game has a good single player that admittedly gave up on and I had fun at multiplayer because I was actually pretty good. It just got stagnate pretty quick. I heard their are updates now to the game and I think it would take C3 to get me back into it. What kept me going on it for so long was my son loved watching me play it and he would fall asleep watching, which is weird.
This is a review of the campaign. The multiplayer is still a buggy mess almost 9 months in. Personally, I really enjoyed the campaign and I feel like 343i did a really good job creating an open world game that still feels like Halo. The gameplay is super fun and the story is pretty good and had me tearing up in some parts. I would say that this is definitely the best Halo game 343i has produced, strictly in terms of campaign. I will say that Halo 3 and Reach set the bar fairly high, so 4 stars, plus it was missing a lot of key features that Halo games had at launch that are just now being added, like Campaign Co-op and mission replaying. Overall, still a decent Game in general with a very good Campaign.
Halo Infinite had so much potential to being great. Halo fans were hyped for this game to come out, they had something to be excited for because there hasn't been a new Halo game in 6 years. If only it lived up to peoples expectations. Halo Infinite was a huge let down. It had good core gameplay, but it doesn't have a good progression system, and most of the content in it are missing. Forge isn't out yet, and Co-op Campaign is now being flight tested after 7 months of the game being out. The challenge system is very unenjoyable. It's the only way of you progressing in the game and most of them forces you to play game modes that you don't even enjoy. It's like 343 Industries are bossing you to play this game mode. The Events 343 Industries add into the game are seriously dry. It's lazy and it's supposed to keep players playing the game, but it's just the same game mode you've been playing for over and over again, with the same gameplay you've been playing for 8 months now. I hate it how seasons last for 6 months without any content being added to it, just stupid events of the same game modes you've been playing for 8 months, and on the same maps you played for 8 months. The Halo Shop is really disappointing, according to the leaks and the trailers for Halo Infinite, and 343 stated themselves, that they have thousands of customization options, but they only release a small piece of it, and they re-release it, time and time again, barely anything new comes out of the Halo Shop. It's very hard to enjoy Halo Infinite because of these issues, and whose fault is it? It's all 343 Industries fault. It might be too late for Halo Infinite to make a comeback and gain all of it's players back. 343 Industries is struggling to keep this game alive, and the updates and the events they add, they do the bare minimum. It sucks that this is the state of Halo Infinite.
Halo infinite had the potential to be amazing but 343 ruined it. The battle pass in Halo MCC was pretty good and rewarding. Very easy to progress through. In Halo Infinite they just threw it all out the window. The only way to progress through the battle pass is to do challenges that force you to play certain modes that you just have to get lucky for and get it in the quick match playlist. Co-op campaign and forge modes were staples in the Halo franchise and neither of these were in the game at launch (still aren't in the game to this day). The multiplayer and gameplay isn't even that bad and could offer a good time but it's just missing so much content.
Infinite is a great installment to the Halo franchise and the campaign feels like a love letter to the OG and Halo 2, but the lack of multiplayer content leaves something to be desired. Hope 343 has more lined up later on for this title.
Halo has so many good memories for me, at least the first three + ODST and Reach. Infinite feels as close to my old memories of Halo as one can get, but they definitely need to really expand the multiplayer aspect a lot, and quickly, if they're going to hold the attention of Halo nostalgic individuals like myself. Not a bad game in any way, but they just need to put a bit more effort and not rely on the low-effort-battlepass trap many games stick with nowadays. (Also, I have to grind WAY too hard to get stuff unlocked. I hate to say it, but they should take notes from the Fortnite BP system. That one is still a grind, but the rate at which I can unlock stuff there keeps that dopamine trigger going just enough to keep me invested)
After playing Halo 4 and Halo 5 I was worried that the quality of Halo games would continue to go downhill. However, Halo Infinite proved I had nothing to fear and reminded me what I love about the Halo franchise! The multiplayer and gameplay is absolutely fantastic, even though I usually have a negative K/D.
343 you had the potential to make a good Halo game. Halo 5 was a step in the right direction and Infinite lived up to the hype.... Until we all realized how little content is there for a "live service" game. 2 new maps since launch is embarrassing, especially if you are trying to compete with games like Fortnite/Apex. As a Halo fan I am very disappointed with the way 343 has treated this title.
So here’s the thing. The overall gameplay/mechanics of Halo Infinite are phenomenal. They did a very good job of ensuring good balance within the gameplay and the Ranked Playlist has been ironed out to where it’s enjoyable for me. The issue at this time is simply content and how they divide the content. No forge, no 2s, lack of differing ranked modes (swat, slayer, 2s), etc… I feel that this is the best PvP multiplayer game out there (that’s not a battle royale).
It’s also pretty disappointing there’s no lobby chat with the other teams. Trash talking before and after halo matches was literally what made halo so competitive. Microsoft/343 absolutely need to invest more into this game to keep it alive and rebuild its popularity.
The game we have been waiting for, takes you back to the good ol halo 3 days where we would be up all night long playing "one more match", the open world sandboxish campaign was a nice addition
From a game play perspective, infinite took everything all us middle aged people loved about Halo and made it feel fresh and new. But the lack of variety in game modes, cosmetics, and XP earning makes it hard to stick to outside of playing with a group of friends.
I understand a few of the complaints, there are things I'd improve, specifically when it comes to the battle pass, cosmetic items, and progression. I'd love a few more maps and different ranked modes. Overall I have a blast playing this game. Catch me in some Tactical Slayer, that's my jam!
