This game is terrible and I cannot stop playing it. Please someone help me. This isn’t right. I’m not the person who refuses to fail at games and has to keep going to win. I don’t know why I keep trying. Oh, wait, it’s because of the music. The music is pretty good. Everything else is terrible. Don’t play this game.
Ok I’m hooked. I wasn’t sure at first, but I can’t put it down. This is a beautifully difficult game that if you put the time in you will be fine. If you want a challenge play this game. Graphics are fine, music is top tier, and the difficulty makes it addicting. I just want to keep grinding until I beat the level. It feels so so good to get to the end of a level.
This game is legitimately one of the most frustrating games I have played. The only reason I am not giving it 1star is because zonkedwheat9999 loves this game and I respect him as a gamer. The music is catchy and if you learn the rhythm you can beat levels. The juice just isn’t worth the squeeze on this one for me. I may give this game another go later in my career and when I do, it is eligible for an apology star if it turns out I was wrong.
I tried this for a current quest. Tried to learn it and couldn’t even complete one level. I gave up and deleted the game. I left valuable XP on the table by not completing the quest because I couldn’t see myself trying more. Not my jam at all.
It's tricky sometimes to differentiate between "a bad game," "a game I am bad at," and "a game that I just didn't enjoy." I think this is mostly a combination of the latter two.
The controls (at least as far as I played, which was nearly an hour trying to beat the first stage) are simple: tap (I assume press a key/button on non-touch platforms) to jump; hold to continuously jump. Your character automatically runs and must jump at the right time to avoid obstacles. Later, you hop on a rocketship and must tap to fly up, but of course, not too high or you'll crash into spikes on the ceiling or ram into a wall.
I wanted to like this, but found it incredibly frustrating that the timing was tight -- not frame-perfect by any means, but very unforgiving, and any wrong input meant doing the whole level over; you have no midway checkpoints (it seems there might be on some versions?) and no health to tank even a single hit.
I can see the appeal of this game if you're much better at it; I imagine it's fun to just blast through a level in under 45 minutes and 100+ attempts, there was a decent soundtrack though it got a little old after a while. I think the game could use an assist mode or something to make it less impossible for people who don't have god-like twitch reflexes, so I don't think this would be higher than 3, certainly no more than 4 stars, even if I wasn't terrible at it. But I do recognize that there could be a decent game in here, and so hold back from the 1-star review.
Fun little game that keeps you trying bc of how frustrating it is. It’s like flappy bird but harder and much more precise. The ads are annoying but i played on lite mode so maybe they’re gone if you buy the real version. Not a game I’d play much but it has its entertainment
No! Just, no!
It's hard to put into words just how much I hate, nay, despise this game!
To be fair, I don't know for sure which version I played (when searching for "play geometry dash online", a plethora of options come up). I tried a couple different ones though and hated both of them.
It was quite difficult to get the timing down on jumping. Granted, I was playing on keyboard. It's possible I would hate this game less on mobile or with a controller.
But even with a controller, I can't foresee myself enjoying this game enough to rate it more than 2 stars at the absolute most.
All I know is that the stupid little cube wasn't all that responsive. And then the weird flying sections were unexpected and likewise annoying (again, perhaps the version I played was different than the one that others have played).
One of the versions I played did have a couple checkpoints which did allow me to finally beat a level (though it took more tries than I'd care to admit)!
In conclusion: do NOT play this game unless you hate yourself and are a masochist!
