Fire Emblem: Three Houses
Fire Emblem: Three Houses
I had played Radiant Dawn, but otherwise no other titles in this series, before Three Houses. I still see this one as my favorite these days. I think this was one the first turn-based with multiple outcomes I had ever played (compared to something like Diablo that is more action based).

Fire Emblem: Three Houses
So I am only 4 hours in, the biggest turn off for me is the monetary sequence, it seems kind of pointless or maybe I don’t understand. This is my first game back since Blazing Blade. It may have the name but not the feel. This title feels something to be desired

Fire Emblem: Three Houses
Being my favorite game of 2019 is no easy task, but this game was amazing, with me replaying this game 12+ times by now using completely new builds (and memes) on units. The characters are fun and unique, with 3 fully-fleshed out routes (no, I'm not missing one, notice I said fully-fleshed out). On top of the story, this Fire Emblem game brought to the table some interesting mechanics like adjutants and gambits (both of which are completely broken but I digress).

And for me, the gameplay is THE defining factor of this game. Unlike other FE games, every unit can be almost every class in the game, with 5 ability slots, a personal skill, 3 combat arts, and a crest for maximum customization. This game's normal and hard modes are good to start out with but maddening mode is extremely fun. Having the enemies be 7+ levels higher than you with insane base stats sounds daunting but becomes surprisingly fun after a certain point in time, except for surprise reinforcements, making divine pulse almost a necessity on maddening. Sure, it's not as difficult as FE12's Reverse Lunatic or Thracia on 0% growths, but it's much more reasonable and, in my opinion, more fun than older FE difficulties that will give you nightmares. You can even 1-turn all of the final maps on every route on maddening, so that's fun I guess.

This is more what I look for with Fire Emblem games! I love the strategy aspect of it! Not the most challenging game, but a lot of fun!

Fire Emblem: Three Houses
This was my first FE game (I played the OG after this when Nintendo released it on the Switch). I LOVE strategy games and I love the permadeath element even more. Though after playing the original now I feel like the time reverse function makes the game a bit too easy. BUT too easy aside I had fun with the whole thing. It took a bit to get used to the time routines on the calendar but it ultimately did not take away from my enjoyment. This is a game that probably could have used an old school manual. Still 5 stars for me.
