Final Fantasy Tactics
Final Fantasy Tactics

"Final Fantasy Tactics" is a timeless classic that combines deep tactical gameplay with a rich, intricate storyline set in the fantasy realm of Ivalice. Players lead a diverse cast of characters through strategic battles, employing a variety of job classes and abilities to outmaneuver foes. Despite its age, the game's engaging mechanics and compelling narrative continue to captivate players, cementing its status as one of the greatest tactical RPGs of all time.

Final Fantasy Tactics
Let's be clear, this game isn't balanced, but that's the fun. If you want to make ridiculously overpowered characters, you can. It's going to be grindy, but when the result is power overwhelming, it's worth it.

There's a pretty good story here too, though it's a little confusing at parts and I'm pretty sure it doesn't hold up under scrutiny, but please let me know if there's any JRPG that does...

You're not going to like this if you want fast paced action. Battles are long, drawn out affairs, but that's what you're asking for when you play a tactics game. The battle system isn't as deep as some later fire emblem games, but it's good, and the job system is well done.

If you like tactical JRPGs, absolutely pick this up. If you don't, this won't change your mind. If you don't know, try a demo of some modern fire emblem game perhaps.

Cool game with a cool story. Doesn't get the love of other Final Fantasy games, but this is fun to play.

Final Fantasy Tactics
My first tactical RPG. I bought this knowing absolutely nothing about it, I just saw "Final Fantasy" (this was right after FF7 came out) and went for it. In the long run I enjoyed this more than FF7, I've replayed it all the way through at least half a dozen times. There were so many excellent permutations of team makeup - like the calculator with black magic that could cast flare on every enemy standing on ground with elevation of a multiple of 3. The story was deep as well, blew my 7th-grade mind. It was really tough in the beginning but my man Orlandu was OP, we all know the game was waaay easier after he joined. The OST is amazing as well, I still listen to it on occasion.

This is the only Final Fantasy game I've ever played. The camera angles can be weird, otherwise I have no complaints. Turn based Comcast like this was new for me too. All of the different jobs was something that I loved. You could power yourself up ridiculously strong and actually feel heroic before going into fights.

The story actually really engaged me, even at a young age.
