I've played 6 hour almost entirely story mode and am only now about to start the Namek Saga because I was busy completing all the what ifs of the Saiyan Saga. This game is jam packed with content to cover. In typical Budokai/Tenkai format, the CPU's are tough and nasty to fight.
Game play is super smooth. Combat is fast and the characters actually look fast, there are layers to the combo and dodge mechanics, and the multi difficulty levels are great for those that want an easier time going through the story. I'll update whenever I finally try out multiplayer, but this has potential to be the best game of the year.
Update: Multiplayer runs really well and I feel the majority of my fights come down to finishing moves. The only complaint is people can rage quit and I end up not winning my points in a ranked match, but hey, Smash Bros took 7 years to fix that problem so I can give DB some time.
I used to play BT3 so much as a kid and have been waiting years for another to release. Playing sparking zero makes me feel like I'm a kid again playing BT3 on my PS2 or Burst Limit on my CRT.
6 hours into the game and I'm awe struck. This game has an insane amount of content for the price of the game (rare occasion). From story mode through multiple storylines throughout the universe (and the fun sparking episodes special "what if" timelines) to tournament mode with 6 different tourneys including a custom one. The shop has a lot of content that will take grinding to acquire it all. Complete missions to obtain dragon balls to get some nice rewards with shenron being the lowest to the super dragon being the best.
The biggest learning curve of this game from all the previous ones seems to be all the movement and attacks / defending. There's alot to learn if you wanna be the best in the universe. Going through the training mode with piccolo helps but let's be honest you're gonna forget half of it once you blow through it.
The combat in this game is very polished. From the hand to hand combat to dodging to burst attacks and collision attacks it's so well done. Certain characters if they've had a past in the anime/manga will have specific dialogue while fighting as well which adds some fun to it all. They'll also have a conversation in the character select team when you're picking your 5 person team depending on the history of everyone. Small things like that really grab my attention and show the attention to detail and time they put into the game because that's one of the easiest parts of the game they could have just glossed over.
The visuals and soundtrack are also very pleasing and attention grabbing. I haven't heard a bad song yet while playing and all the maps looks gorgeous whether you're fighting or destroying them with planetary destruction moves.
This is a game I've been waiting for for almost 2 decades and i don't see me playing much else while i take my time and enjoy every inch of this game. They took budokai tenkaichi 3 and raging blast made a baby and then super boosted that baby. 10/10 game.
