Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze is a 2014 platform game developed by Retro Studios in collaboration with Monster Games and published by Nintendo for the Wii U console. The fifth installment in the Donkey Kong Country series, Tropical Freeze is the direct sequel to the 2010 Wii game Donkey Kong Country Returns and was released in February 2014. An enhanced port for the Nintendo Switch was released in May 2018. Donkey Kong and his family must venture across five islands to save their home, Donkey Kong Island, after it is frozen over by the villainous Snowmads—a group of invaders from the northern seas. Like its predecessor, the game received mostly positive reviews. Praise was directed at the level design, gameplay, and soundtrack, although its high level of difficulty received more mixed opinions. An enhanced port for the Nintendo Switch was released on May 4, 2018. It was developed once again by Retro Studios and includes support for new control schemes and an easier difficulty option, "Funky Mode", which introduces Funky Kong as a playable character.

It has been a few years since I played this but like what @laughatbrian said, this game is crazy hard. I remember having to change the difficulty setting so I could basically end up with a million lives to keep playing the game with my 5 year old daughter at the time. Buuuuuuttttt, it is Donkey Kong so it was an awesome game. Donkey Kong platform games are better than Mario. I know what I said and I stand by it. Enemies are more creatively diverse and the so are the levels. I played this on Switch and its about high time we get another DK game.

It loses a star because of its insane difficulty. Other than that, the game is almost perfect. It's so fun, so creative. A typical Nintendo game that they loved and nurtured and made it incredibly fun to play. But man...it's hard. I finally beat it on the Switch version and I wanted to throw it out the window after I was done.

Great game with a fun soundtrack. This is the current game that both my kids (5 and 7 years old) want to play with me when they are home with daddy. Loving this game.

The best DKC side-scroller since the king itself: DKC2. Incredibly challenging, yet fun. I've yet to 100% this or the Switch port. Definitely check it out if you're a fan of the franchise or platformers in general.
